APR Racing Aerodynamics @ 949Racing
We have added the APR Racing wings and aerodynamics to the website. After track testing the GTC-200 and GTC-200 wings we came away very impressed with the ease of installation, great fit and most of all, real downforce. The APR wings are the real deal, USA designed and manufactured, CFD optimized airfoil shapes.
The change in handling to a fast track car is astounding. A typical turbo Miata on race tires at the track, will drop several seconds by adding a wing. What was surprising to me was being able to feel the distinct increase in rear grip starting at lower speeds, 50-60mph. Even in mid to low speed areas on the track where without the wing I would have to feather the throttle and tip toe through transitions to keep it stuck, added the wing and I could just drive through with the right foot planted. Above 80mph it was like a different car. APR's Jeff Lee, a Miata enthusiast, is also working on canards and other Miata specific items. Look for those in the coming months. http://www.949racing.com/ProductImag..._miata_AK3.gif |
I know I'm a ricer at heart...but that is fucking cool.

new GTC-300
In response to many high horsepower track Miatas wanting even more downforce than the GTC200 can provide, I asked APR to make a Miata specific GTC300 in 61" width for us. One of these will be going onto the OGK when the Rotrex goes in. This GTC300, will make just over twice as much downforce as the GTC200 at 0 degrees. Lift to drag ratio at zero angle of attack (relative to ground plane) is the same as the GTC200. The recent Miata Challenge unlimited winner had a GTC300, the rest of us had GTC200's. For anything under about 170whp, the GTC200 will usually still be the better choice.

What will you sell us to keep the front end down?

^ I like your thinking sir... :D

In for good vendor that will eventually see some of my monies.
This is awesome. I don't want to add a wing, but will surely soon find I need one. Are they considering a Miata-specific diffuser? |

Would I stay balanced at speed with a garage vary front lip and a gtc200? I have ~ 4" clearance under the lip and I am making 250whp...wondering if I need a splitter/under tray

Question after searching
I'm wondering if I should get the Miata or universal version of the wing.
I saw some installs with brackets on Miata quarter/trunk opening to avoid putting the wing on the trunk directly. So 40'' span vs 42,5'' between mounting points. |
