Default Adaptronic

Any questions about the Adaptronic I'll field here. I'm going to start putting up the tuning files and sample tuning logs so you guys have a database to at least play with the software, and start understanding its features.

already playing with the software. holy hell batman, so far I love how its set up, though way too much info to learn/digest in one day. You'll be seeing me a lot more on here now

so I take it rpm increments for fueling and ignition can be modified from 200rpm - 500rpm increments?

oh and btw, the "launch control", "turbo timer", "boost by gear", among other functions are giving me a hardon

*edit: reading the installation manual and have a **** ton of questions already. I will reserve them for when I receive the unit

Yea I'm developing a kit to make the launch control, and traction control functions plug and play on the miata. The turbo timer, boost by gear are also very cool. Alot of guys can't keep it planted in first anyways, and the boost by gear feature can absolutely max your ability to come out of a corner hard or knock your 60ft time to the floor for that setup. Especially when its coupled with the launch controller.

I might recommend actually using 500 rpm increments it sounds crazy not to use the resolution, but listen in. I have my map set for 250 rpm increments, and tuning the load cells really becomes a challenge because if you think about holding your rpm to 125 rpm constant especially around the idle when you are first dialing it in, is a REAL pain. It can also cause the autotune feature to be slower to build, because you can put in options like, load cell must be active for such a period of time before it can be adjusted. (which is smart because you don't want a cell to be changed when its in transition.) Your load cells change so quickly the autotune is not able to make meaningful changes to the map before it jumps to the next cell. There are also 256 cells you have to tune from 0-8000 rpm and 0 pressure to max pressure. If you use the 250 rpm feature guess what? 512 cells you have to tune for the same operating range. In my opinion thats just too much to deal with.

You can tune it at the 250 rpm spacing I'm not saying its impossible, but even if you do there is no amount of non-linear happening on my map between any 2 cells at 250 rpm of resolution.

equally spaced cells is of limited use anyway. maybe mention to adaptronic to make them 100% user's choice. you might want 200 rpm increments around idle, but 1000 rpm increments from there to the torque peak... anything else is just cumbersome.

it's my complaint with the hydra too.

I think it depends heavily on what hardware you run. I believe the adaptronic is "hardware maxed out" with its current settings. I'll see what they say though. You might have too many cells, but that certainly means you have enough.

I'm thinking of going with 500rpm increments actually. worked fine with all the subaru's.

Do you/will you have a plug and play ECU that works for the MSM?

I can probably get something cooking on this end, but I wouldn't know a release date.

We can map you a harness if you can get connectors...

If you can do something like that I can get it done in a week probably. I'm guessing the connectors are different then the 94's, 99's, or 01's by the way you said that.

It's probably a very similar setup to the 99, but I have no idea on connectors. I got my 01 connectors by scouring the AMP/Tyco website until I found the match.

I don't even have an MSM ECU to play with. I can't tell differences in connectors, or what they even look like.

A few questions on the 2002 NBs

With Adaptronic will I still have cruise control, AC, and otherwise all of the stock functionality?

I've seen launch control, flat shifting, and whatnot. I can see where there will be a need for more sensors on non ABS cars, is there a solution in the works for a fully off the shelf solution?

Hopefully I will be able to get my BEGi kit swapped from my wrecked car and put it on my 2002 SE; but there are a few things that I need to add to my shopping list. Just wondering where people are getting their 800cc injectors that fit in our rails? Also, is there any drawback to tuning with the stock fuel pump and then adding a 255LPH down the road?

Is the EBC already fully operational with the purchase of all the sensors and whatnot in the kit or will I need to do more buying?

Oh, and concerning VICS... what all is needed to keep this working? Is it as simple as specifying an RPM range in the software?

Finally, any known issues with the AEM UEGO with the Adaptronic?

Sorry about all of the questions... my arm was twisted and I am having to build another car in a hurry. Damn wrecks!

Thanks all and cheers,
Prospero

I'll anser what I can.

AEM UEGO works fine.

EBC you need to buy a solenoid (DIY Autotune)

My car retained AC, cruise no problem. Car functions as stock.

I can't answer the VICS question, but y8s is working on it.

Yes

The launch control works with the main electronic vehicle speed sensor. The traction control does require another add on sensor. So you should be able to plug in the unit and use all the features besides the traction control. Working on a kit for the traction control, but its not here yet.

I could check with Deatschwerks for you to see if they offered something larger that plugs into the rail. Conventionally they only want to offer upto 600ccs

Stein nailed it already.

Oh, and concerning VICS... what all is needed to keep this working? Is it as simple as specifying an RPM range in the software?
VICS is just specifying an RPM range. on the NBB you've also got the VTT which is controllable.

Finally, any known issues with the AEM UEGO with the Adaptronic?
Check the install manual on the website for the lowdown on the AEM UEGO. There is a little bit of extra install time to get it to run in serial mode, but Stein wrote an excellent install guide so its fairly easy to do.

Sorry about all of the questions... my arm was twisted and I am having to build another car in a hurry. Damn wrecks!

y8s,
Thanks for the offer! I just may take you up on it if you have time!!! I work right in the courthouse complex off of Clarendon, maybe some evening after work we and have a quick meet and greet?

I have yet to do anything to my new car and suspect a consultation could be of help. Hell, I'll even buy beer at four courts!

Cheers,
Matt (aka Prospero)
