440 select & Windows 8

This came with a parts car that I bought and I've been reading threads on the driver workaround for windows 8 on the Adaptronic forums, but I am wondering if there is another cable that should go with it? The usb coming out of the unit is female and the male to male usb transfer cable I bought doesn't seem to make connection at all, the software continues to say, "please connect ecu via usb". The ecu's blue power light is on but no orange light for usb power as indicated by their forums.

Sorry I missed this but you should just need a standard USB A (male) to USB-Mini B (male) cable.

Yeah we figured it out thanks. Best Buy sold me a transfer cable at first which has some chipset in it. Edit: the mini didn't work either but standard male to male did.

That's really weird, mine only has a mini port.

Is yours one of these?

The piggy black version if the select. The person I sold it to is upgrading to the full standalone because he lost the immobilizer (haha) but Adaptronic told me there is not much different functionally. This one doesn't have a USB port on the box, it is a cord that pokes out of one of the corners and has a standard USB female end.
