More outputs!

So am I the only one that already wants more output channels?

Right now they are all full as wired up with the adapter harness. I already want to take advantage of my parallel fan wiring and the channel-OR feature to free up one of the fan outputs. That way I can use it for an idea I have for a coolant overtemp light. More on that once I set it up and test it.

After that, if I understand the as-implemented setup correctly I'll be eating into the EGR valve signal to implement the EBC (not concerned about losing EGR). But then after that the evap canister would be next. Then... ?

Then goes idle control :D just open the bypass so it idles at 1200. I'm not sure what his name is on here but dv/dt (m.net) runs a mustang TB w/o any idle control on his 1.8 TEC2 setup.

lol geez.

even offloading all the non-critical features to the stock ECU, I'm running out of PWM outputs.

you use one if you go full direct fire ignition instead of waste spark
water injection with 3D map
boost control
VVT
MAF output map (since I'm not running the way adaptronic wants)

and there's only 3. I need two more!

ZX-Tex 04-10-2009 02:13 AM

yeah a pwm for WI pump control is another one I want too. For now I am doing single stage with a switch but eventually it would be nice.

y8s 04-10-2009 11:06 AM

oh and for god sake dont bother with 2D PWM. Make them 3D.

ZX, you should check out the "Super ECU" thread over at the adap forums.

You guys are output hungry!!:giggle:

I would never convert to direct fire ignition, just doesn't have the value per output that makes it useful. That saves you a PWM output. Also, water injection could be handled with a logic channel. Like 70% TPS and above 100Kpa and above 5000 RPM water injection is turned on. I couldn't imagine a situation when you needed to actually modulate the duty cycle of a pump in a water injection system.

y8s 04-10-2009 09:41 PM

you're telling me what i can't or shouldn't do, but that doesn't mean i dont wanna do it in spite of that. :)

I noticed an improvement in smoothness at all RPM by going to direct fire over batch. Was it psychological or not, I dont know. But I like it.

As for WI, I have the high speed valve from aquamist... why not use it to its full potential? I doubt i need as much water at 10 psi as I do at 20 psi...

TravisR 04-10-2009 09:51 PM

I was just throwing it out there how you can save a couple inputs ;) I had no idea there was a valve out there for metering it. Most of the kits I've seen are the on-off type! Getting all sophisticated with it in this day and age....

ZX-Tex 04-11-2009 10:45 PM

Yeah even Devil's Own sells a relatively cheap PWM controller (MAP based) for the pump. The Aquamist valve approach is more expensive. It would be nicer to do it with the Adaptronic than the Devil's controller if the Adaptronic could be scaled with injector DC.

TravisR 04-11-2009 11:30 PM

You can do that just scale it on one of the PWM outputs using injector duty cycle.

the aquamist HSV has been around for years ;)

it works basically just like an injector. you give it whatever PWM you want.

TravisR 04-11-2009 11:37 PM

I was thinking about making a kit for Adaptronic users. I was going to set it up so it used a stock injector (which anyone needing WI should have one laying around) I never could find a location on exactly how much water was best per each cycle.

y8s 04-12-2009 12:03 AM

i think people have suggested injectors before but they dont hold up. a good read is the aquamist forums.

water injection

they prob have dozens of discussions on amt to inject.
