My MAP and IAT install
I saw the photos in the install about how the MAP and IAT should be installed. So I went at it today trying to make it all clean as possible. While I was at it I removed the single wire to the power steering pump that had just been chilling zip tied out of the way. Took a few pictures showing the disassembly of the stock harness, where I spliced things in, where I chopped wires to hide them away.
I'll add pics here in a second. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_JGvJklEgui0/Sf...2/IMG_0989.jpg http://lh4.ggpht.com/_JGvJklEgui0/Sf...0/IMG_0990.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/_JGvJklEgui0/Sf...0/IMG_0991.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_JGvJklEgui0/Sf...0/IMG_0992.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_JGvJklEgui0/Sf...0/IMG_0993.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_JGvJklEgui0/Sf...0/IMG_0994.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_JGvJklEgui0/Sf...0/IMG_0995.jpg My crank sensor wire needs to be shortened. For the time being I could care less. It's all solid for the time being. I still need to mount the MAP sensor itself and run the vac line to it. IAT put in place of the stock IAT like everyone else. Nothing special, just more pictures for reference incase anyone is scared to tackle the task. |
You know, I have been wondering WTF that wire did on the PS pump! Any idea what it was for? (Hmmm maybe it was secret speed adaptive steering, buhahahahahahaha)
Good and clean install!!! Where did you tap into for the MAP signal and is shared with anything? (vacuum line) Thanks and cheers, Matt |
the wire on the p/s pump is to tell the ecu there's extra load and to increase the idle speeeeeeeeeeeeed.

Brain is balls on there.
I currently have it tapped into my BOV line but only because i had the parts laying around and didn't have to cut anything up to make it happen. I think I'm going to copy everyones 5/16-1/4" brake booster deal though, seems to work well and I like the idea of using a large vacuum source at the back of the manifold instead of a little one at the front of it. I also plan to loom the MAP sensor wires, just don't have any laying around. I reused all the stock split loom yesterday so no scraps. |
was it worth it?

Hmm, I was thinking about using the port under the intake, right below the TB... seems to be a good source and is out of the way.
FWIW, I've never seen any OEM installs of a MAP sensor use a large source-line. Seems that they use a smaller port and run one of the little semi-hard nylon lines. Wonder if there is much of a benefit going one way or another. Oh, and thanks all for the notes on that damn wire coming out of the PS pump. Always wondered wtf it did. Thanks all!!! Cheers, M@ |

I might end up Ting off my current BOV line permanently, we'll see. |
Chad; are you already running your car with the Adaptronic?
What was the reason for installing the MS in parallel in your car? Thanks |
