NB PNP wire harness in NBB
I just received my turbo kit that I bought from Stein (thank you) and saw that it has the years 94-00 on the board for the PNP harness. I have searched and read but can't seam to find any thing that related to my situation. I can't find any diagrams for the adaptronic of either years.
Will the harness that I have work in my car without modification? If not is there realy that much difference? What are the differences if any? I was given the factory wire diagram for the 99 but don't have the 2001. Have a great day, Jared |
01+ wire harnesses are completely and totally different than anything prior. I do not know where to source the header. The plugs are made by Tyco.
Y8's wiring guide is probably the best option, or you can probably purchase a 01+ harness from Boundry. |
Thank you. I have an e-mail out to them. It's the weekend so I don't expect to get one till monday.
I will look for Y8's guide. Have a great day, Jared |
I have two choices one buy A harness or B build one. Since I can't afford to buy one I am going to try to build one. Through searching I have found thease part numbers for the conectors, but can't find the anywhere. I have googled them and can"t find any in stock.
353027-1 (17 pos) 353029-1 (24 pos) 353031-1 (31 pos) Pins: 316836-1 (72 minimum required) Has anone found them and if so where did you find them. I know that I can go to a salvage yard and cut up a harness and ECM but would prefer not to. I am thankfull for any help. Have a great day, Jared |
I'm assuming your asking about the header panel. Nope, I've never found one.
Makes sure that you don't need 2 different sizes of pins (the older cars have larger pins on the outer edges of the connectors for high current functions--though that does not mean the new ones do). |
After dooing more searching I found this.
Extensions Has any one used this? If so how did you like the harness? Have a great day, Jared |
Many people use the boomslang. Many are happy with it. MANY
I think y8s used the boomslang as well. If not, just do EXACTLY what he did and you'll be fine. He knows his shit. |
I am planning on folowing his lead. I just don't have the connectors. If I were to buy the boomslang harness I would be buying a harness from Travice as well. I am hoping to get this done soon. As I would like to have it running soon.
Thank you and have a great day, Jared |
I essentially recreated the boomslang and wired in what I wanted.
The connectors you list above are only half what you need. You also need the PCB header (look at your stock ECU). You CAN get the connectors and pins you list direct from Tyco, but you can't get the mating part anywhere easily. I've looked. It's special. Boomslang does have it on their harness though. So does Travis. I'd skip messing around with wiring and get it from him since you need it to work "soon". If you do go the boomslang route, you'll have a lot more work to do and only yourself to look to for reliability problems... |
Go the Adaptronic harness; you'll have enough to worry about even without wiring issues.
I don't know if it is the done thing but I hooked my MAP sensor up on the Adaptronic harness to make it easier to revert to the stock ECU if needed for troubleshooting. The vac source is shared by my boost gauge but everything seems to work well. |
Y8s, Thank you that is very sound advice on both points. I have not installed the kit yet. Just trying to aquire parts to do so. I have looked on TYCO's int page and didn't see that they had the connectors instock. One had a leed time of like 6 weeks, or something. Maybe I should have called them.
I am most likely going to call travis and order one. I just don't have $340 to spend right now. Have a graet day, Jared |

cheaper alternative is to *gasp* cut your stock harness as needed. or run new wires to the engine bay with new connectors there.
