Questions, Requests, PRI/SEMA, The new 440!
1 Attachment(s)
Hey Guys & Gals,
I was just checking into the forum to see if there were any questions on the Adaptronic hardware/plugins. I've probably logged a good 500 hours in customer support over the last year to just Miata guys . Still though I wanted to put it out there to see if anyone was having any trouble. I also wanted to see if there were any requests from the community. Any functionality or hardware updates that you think are really needed, please pass them along! PRI/SEMA was a lot of fun. It was the first year exhibiting for both Andy and myself so we had a lot of new experiences to take in. It was a really successful couple of shows, and for that reason we'll be adding a lot more certified tuners throughout the states, and even signing up a couple of more Miata specific shops to the roster of tuners. I really appreciate everyone who came out to see us at our booths. It was a real pleasure to put a face with a name. I did post some pictures of SEMA up on the Boundary Engineering facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Boundary-Engineering/120883297926519 (Picture attached Belinda on the left, Andy the Designer in the middle, and me on the right) New ECU roll out: The 440! http://adaptronic.com.au/images/stories/S15ECU_Mini.jpg

Any idea on the pricing of this ECU?
|
Any info on the E420C trade up program that was mentioned on the Adaptronic site forum?
|
+1 on the trade up option. Is this a PnP unit without an adapter board?
You are a lot younger than I had imagined. |

The new ECUs are 1450 for NB8A, NB8B, NB8B MSM, 1300 for NA6A and NA8A We will draw down sales on the 420 w/butterfly loom, but of course you guys are still supported! The 1280 Motorsport ECU is $2000 and is wire in only. Couldn't help but smile at that. Thanks for the compliment... I think? |
In the most hetero possible way, lol

You've really got my attention now. Any chance that the software is currently available for us to play with now?
|
http://adaptronic.com.au/downloads.html the 420 and select software is the same with some features being disabled for 420 users and some enabled with 440 users. Sooner rather then later we're going to have different softwares for each!
Best, Travis |

Hey Guys,
So the trade in is 300 dollars on a new 440. So basically if you send us your old unit we can hack 300 off the price of a new one. Another alternative would be to sell your unit, the units do hold value pretty well considering all the advantages they have and I regularly sell 420s to this day. Something to think about! Best, Travis |
Wow, for $300 how could I resist? Will my current 420 map port over to the 440 seamlessly, since it is using the same software?
Is this a straight plug and play without an adapter board? The 440 box has the Miata female connectors built right in? EDIT: It was pointed out to me that it was a $300 credit towards a new 440...doh! |
Yeah, do 420 maps transfer over? I don't wanna lose my good map if I did this.
|
how long will this $300 trade in credit be available?
|
Hey Guys,
The credit will be available for probably the next 6 months, and the maps do just port over. It would basically be plugin and load map. Best, Travis |
What is the advantage of this ecu over the 420 if you have a good, running, tuned car on the 420?
|
The biggest advantages are actually more of the future development of the firmware. I would say right now its just a very highly polished 420. The cycle rate of the ECU is double what the 420 is, so the throttle response is smoother. The car also just drives better. It supports 4 wheel traction control, the ethanol sensor, and in the future a ton of newer features. Also the units are expect to last longer because of not having that adapter board. I remember us installing it into your car, and we can both attest hanging upside down in the cabin fitting this underneath the dash is no fun. With the 440, there isn't near the stress on the box, and installation is quick.
The 440 also supports the MAF that is on the car and an internal 4-bar sensor. It can use the external sensors, but these other options make the installs more OEM looking. |
sounds promising, but I think that would be a later upgrade. My money can go other places it is needed instead.
Of course if you need a local test mule... :) |
Definitely man, I wouldn't recommend it for you. I would get an E85 tune and water injection. Probably bump you more then pretty much anything else.
