Default In this thread we will discuss and compare fuel maps =)

We have a timing map thread, figure why not have a fuel map thread where we discuss and compare the maps. Mine is JUST starting to be worked on, so I have jack ****, but will add it in as soon as its at least starting to develop.

Post em up guys

I've got my Adaptronic sitting here but it's not installed yet. This is what I was running on my MegaSquirt PNP:

The setup was a 1600 with Jackson Racing supercharger. I'll let you know what I go for with the Adaptronic but I don't think it will be too different to this.

Well I think I must be one of the few guys without a turbo here. and I am running IRTB's (playing by CSP rules) So my map is going to look way different. a little background

So I have a 96 with a 01 motor and mahura IRTB's. I was running a freedom ECU that was already dialed in for the 99 motor. Sonce the change to a 01 motor with VVT, I bought an adaptronics ECU that has VVT functionality.

now I am trying to tune the ECU, I took some screen shots from the freedom before I sold it to help in the tuning, but the map sensor and units are different, basically the data doesn't trasfer.

So on to tuning the adaptronics. I started with the base map and the car doesn't like it. Autotune worked great for dialing in the MAP for <25% throttle. after playing around with settting for about a week I decided to try a TPS based map. So I went through all the logs and sorted the data and found all the points that landed in the 14-15 AFR range. Plotted it in excel and did a linear fit. Then extrapolated it out to higher RPM and TPS and made a TPS based map. Car runs a lot better with it, I can actually floor it and it revs out WOOT! But.... It falls on its face below 3000 RPM, like would not run. Couldn't quite figure it out so I got to thinking how the MAP based setup was just the opposite, it ran great as long as I didn't give it over ~ 25% throttle. So I decided to try a MAP+TPS based setup. I loaded the MAP setup and set everything above 3000RPM to 0, and I loaded my new TPS based map and set everything below 3000RPM to 0. Did a lot better with that setup.

After soing a little research that is how the honda crowd does IRTB's too. MAP for low load and TPS for higher loads.

ADD VERSION>>> so basically I am running on MAP under 3000 and TPS over 3000RPM. So far it runs okay like this, stuill needs alot of fine tuning and some work on the idle.

I plan to go to the dyno friday afternoon, so next week I will post up the results and MAP's.

you realize that's pointless right? even a slight variation in one injector will make them not comparable.

Aww ****, my bad then.
I guess I fail
What gas are you guys using btw? 91 or 93?

Another question: I'm tuning on crap 91oct and with subaru's and evo's usually never go any leaner than 11.0-11.25.....I noticed every other person on here going all the way to high 11's low 12's afr. I KNOW 12's is a no no for me, but do you think I might be able to get away with 11.5? I will be keeping a close eye on "knock" and listening for it, but do you think I should even ATTEMPT it? Right now I have autotune targets set at 11.0 in boost since I'm just starting.

Any of you "calibrated" yours? Or do you just use them the way they are. So far I have 0 knock everywhere, according to the ks.

1: WI is a plus for you.

2: I have run 12.5 at 160 kPa with no issues

3: Not calibrated yet. If yours is showing 0 as in never off zero, it's turned off or there is a calibration limit applied to your map. One of the bad things about shared maps. Someone could have turned it off or bumped the minimum.

Well how is it "turned off" or "calibration limit applied"? The only button I see for it is the "set background knock level", I go into it and everything is set to 0 for every rpm. Isn't that the way it should be? I mean if its set to 0 from what I understand if it picks up ANY knock it will show it..Correct? And btw I do see a few knocks there and there when just started it up or random driving, just not when I get on it.

OK, both of those are good. The other thing to check (and it probably isn't an issue because you are seeing some movement)

Are you running open loop or closed loop on ignition?

If open loop, you are fine. If you are closed loop, under Corrections, in the ignition section, click "set closed loop parameters" and see if the retard level for 1* is some value other than 0. Mine is set at 70 now as I still see spikes up to 140 around 4300 regardless of boost level so I have mine pretty much shut off. It retards 2* at 140.
