Could the messed up MAP reading have anything to do with an open vacuum port on the intake manifold?

I just realized this. I routed a vacuum line from the intake mani to inside the car, had it hooked up to a boost gauge, but since have removed the boost gauge and the new one I just got wansnt connected yet.

I will connect the boost gauge so there are no vacuum leaks and log again tomorrow

I am such a ******* problem child lol....Sorry Travis

Haha, Whatever vlad. We'll get there.

The MAP sensor should read 100kpa with the motor off though. Instead it looks exactly like steins did when we didn't have the right ground going to it. Check that wiring out, the MAP sensor could fry pretty quickly if it isn't right.

Ahh, the dreaded "map wiring" monster has reared its ugly head yet again

I thought It was all fine and dandy last time we did a log? All that I did from then til now is solder the wires together instead of having them attached to each other via cheap *** autozone wire clamps. FUUUUUUU

Ok, so:

this
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...map_sensor.jpg
or this
GM 3 BAR MAP SENSOR KIT AEM MOTEC MSD DFI HALTECH 3BAR:eBay Motors (item 250429262430 end time Jun-20-09 13:30:39 PDT)

Which one is right? I know all the wires/connections at the tps and maf signal are good. The only thing to figure out now is WHAT THE **** KIND OF MAP SENSOR I HAVE. Its a replica, all the wires on it are black as opposed to all the good sensors everyone else is running that have color coded wires, and Its drivin me up the wall.

I'll grab a voltage meter and see where that gets me

Arg, regardless of which one you have the MAP sensor pin positions will be the same. So the photobucket picture is good.

After seeing your work; I'm surely tempted.

And I wished I could get that kind of deal to fly to Spain!

BTW Vlad; you're always welcome over here!

I'll talk to the gf and see what I can work out. We'll be rollin' the silver bullet (97 Taurus LX), the gf doesn't like riding in the sweat box for 12hrs.

HA! You haven't actually SEEN my work , soon though... I did look for tickets but there wasn't anything cheap.

We don't usually get deals that good either. They sold out within an hour of finding out about them.

My 600cc's showed up today! They go in as soon as I finish a couple of school projects.

Ok this is starting to really **** me off
I think giving up my adaptronic map sensor and getting this fleabay piece of **** is one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made.

I went through it for the 100000th time today with a volt meter:

wiring it up like a gm or gm style MAP sensor is supposed to be wired up DOES NOT work. Checked it with a meter, and MADE ABSOLUTELY 10000% sure that I did the wiring right. Then I re-wired it according to the dumbass ebay pinouts. Now it works, but STILL reads 50-52KPA NO MATTER WHAT!
I mean, I checked the wiring and made sure everything correct so many times at this point I'm ready to rip my hair out. I have been working on this for the last 5 hours of today.

Aside from that the car STILL makes that stupid compressor sound. I change the "idle" settings around and it does NOTHING, I unscrew the idle screw in the throttle body and screw it in, NOTHING. All that changes is the idle rpm.

Last time it took all of 2 seconds to fix but I can not remember it for the life of me. Travis, what am I doing wrong?

OK:

Now I am 100% certain the sensor I got is a POS and does not work properly. I went over to my neighbors house who has a pontiac grand am that he's changin a headgasket on. On the manifold is a GM Map sensor of course its only a 1 bar but still. I ask him if I can borrow it. Sure

So I go home, hook it up to my wiring, hook up the vacuum hose and everything EXACTLY how I had it with this POS fleabay one, and voila:
the "gauges" say 97-100kpa.

So now I know its not my faulty wiring but the actual sensor. So now Travis, what do I do????????

Alright man deep breath we'll get there. The idle settings you want to change to get rid of the compressor sound is the frequency of the idle air control valve. Change it up or down until it quits making noise basically.

I will see what I can do about a MAP sensor. Shipping one direct just for you from Austrailia would be like 150 dollars. So I will have to find another source. I'll work on it tomorrow and see what I can do.

The sensor was either bad when you got it, or it was fried by being wired incorrectly. Either way it isn't working for you.

Vlad,

Sounds like the problem I had today.

Open the tab "Aux Out".

The first setting is IDLE.

If it is set at 25Hz start increasing it while it is running. If the compressor sound gets better, keep increasing it until it goes away. 250Hz or 500Hz should stop it.

I think this is the IDLE setting that Travis was talking about, not the idle values that you were changing. It fixed mine.

Thanx guys. I'll try that

Yeah I went out for a few cold ones and in a much better mood now

As for the MAP sensor, yeah its definitely a goner. I know for a fact though that I have it wired correctly. If you can get me a new one that is great. If you need help to pay for shipping or whatnot I will do my part man. Thanx Travis

18psi,
My NA8 has a map reading of 33kPa at idle, 53 seems a bit high, may be a small air leak? It would explain the poor idle.

No leaks and the wiring is correct. The MAP sensor is messed up. It has been confirmed now, since I hooked up a 1 bar GM map sensor from a pontiac and it worked correctly. Travis said he will get me a new one from adaptronic, since this one was bought off ebay when I gave mine to Stein.

Just waiting on the Adaptronic MAP sensor to come in now

18psi,
Have you installed your new map sensor yet? I am following your progress (with some sympathy) as I had a intermittent fault with the O2 sensor and the throttle position sensor after I installed my Adaptronic ECU two years ago, what a pain in the *** that was. Works great now I am very happy with it.

What was the solution? I haven't got my Box from down under yet. It should be here today so I can ship it to him.

New MAP sensor should be here any day now

Thanx again Travis for helping me work through this. As soon as its here its going straight onto the car and I will try my best to get it operational ASAP. I am 10000000000% sure I have all the wiring correct, double checked everything and know EXACTLY which wire goes where, so I know everything on my end is sound. So once I have an operational MAP sensor I think it will be smooth sailing.
