Vics

Well, I'm tired of only having one active thread on the Adaptronic forum.:giggle:

From the intake manifold thread:

Intake Manifolds: From Mild to Wild: Engine Builder

I just read this and apparently the variable displacement manifold is what we have in our 99-00 VICS manifolds?

It made me think. Is there any way to know that my VICS is working after I switched to the Adaptronic?

turn it off, see if you lose power

Would there be a slight drop in manifold pressure when the vics operates?

Where or how? It's not the same as the VVT setting, is it?

Vics

Look on the intake manifold towards the front. It is underneath the manifold towards the center of the car right near the throttle cable bracket.
I do not know how to describe the location any better. You should see the actuator move when you start the car. This closes the VICS valve and when you hit the pre-determined rpm it will open. My 2000 1.8 is in a 1992 so I had to set up the VICS to work with an RPM switch. Sorry no pix but I will get some if you really need them.

It is one of the outputs, I forget which one. Just change the RPM set point to 8000 RPM or something like that.

It's aux output 2, set to switch at 4k. From what I've read, ~5250 is optimal switching point. Pic in this thread:

From the workshop manual:

"VICSV (VICS solenoid valve)

Ignition switch ON: ON
Idle: ON
Engine speed above 5250 rpm: OFF"

I've set up Aux Out 2 with the following settings:

Type: RPM
Unticked PWM
Low Threshold: 5150
High Threshold: 5250
Ticked Invert

This should mimic the stock ECU right?

I'll set the crossover point for max torque once I can get back to the dyno, but I'd like to just set it up like stock for now.

Thanks!
