AEM 30-4110 MS help
Hello everybody the other day I hooked up my ms and loaded my base map but I found no option to calibrate the AEM 4110 and even entered custom voltage range values but still couldn’t get it to connect. If anybody has connected this one before or has had any luck could you please please help me(: thanks.

Which MS do you have? How did you wire it up? Which input did you use? Does the gauge work?

As Ace said, we need more info. Is your gauge even lighting up? If not, fix it first.
If by calibrate you mean calibrate the O2 sensor with "free air," that sensor comes already calibrated. If by calibrate you mean telling Tunerstudio which O2 sensor you own, there is a setting named something along the lines of "calibrate wideband o2 sensor." I'm away from my laptop but I believe it is one of the drop down menus next to File. Tools maybe? Here you will tell Tunerstudio which brand/model of O2 sensor you have. If you do not see yours here your sensor should have came with some information on what its voltage to AFR values are. Put these values in the custom voltage range. If TS has your gauge listed, you may still need to fudge the voltage ranges in the custom setting to get your gauge reading and TS readings to match. If your gauge isn't glowing any pretty lights, fiddling with the voltage range isn't going to change squat. |

Is it reading full lean with the car running? Obviously it will read full lean with the engine off. Have you verified you have your gauge wired up correctly? I wouldn't be so quick in assuming something is broken, personally. Even if it is "broke" it could just be the sensor and not the sensor+controller.

A bad ground will cause a full lean reading.

I just went through this with the same AEM gauge and sensor, and a new MS unit.
I called AEM using the contact number on their website, described how it was hooked up, that it worked briefly, and then went to full lean no matter what. They told me it was the sensor, told me to take a picture of it after cutting up the wiring to it, and they sent me a new one. The new one has worked just fine. You do need to confirm your wiring first. And we are all assuming it is the gauge reading that shows full lean. If you have the calibration curve for the MS wrong you could get a bad reading from the MS data, but that is easy to check, since then the gauge and MS do not read the same value. |
My AEM gauge would start at 14 then ramp up to full lean. New sensor fixed it. You can test it by spraying carb cleaner on it while it is on. Should go to rich if you do that. If it doesn't then the sensor is shot. Once that was reading correctly, then I made sure what the MS was getting matched the gauge face.

It's an oxygen sensor, it is sensing oxygen like a good little wideband. No fuel or combustion byproducts are displacing the oxygen as the car is not running. What exactly is the problem?

Mine did that, but it was while the car was running, not in free air.

Should it stay in 14.6 for so long? Shouldn´t it go to full lean wayyy quicker if the engine is not running? I´m asking these questions because i installed a speeduino today and cant get the car to start My thread if you care to help |
I do not know, it could be normal. Doesn't make sense but could be explained by shitty code that pretty much runs anything any more. Megasquirt itself has all kinds of stupid built in software filters for no reason, and it's missing others you'd expect.
Whatever is going on with the wideband probably has nothing to do with why it won't start. You need a wideband to tune properly, you don't need one to start and get an initial idle going. I'm going to assume you've tried nothing and are out of ideas? I would probably do some reading, then try and make some informed changes while trying to make sense of whatever feedback the car is giving. |

Well you assume correctly that i´ve tried nothing and am out of ideas. The problem is that im reading, and have read, quite alot and still can´t seem to find the problem. |
The sensor will not affect having the car start, nor what it does while warming up. So if the stock ecu starts the car, then it is something in the setup on the speeduino that is the problem.
No idea what though, sorry. |
