AEM EMS 4 1.6L CAS Question (SAV?)

I have an EMS4 and its on a 90 1.6L miata.

I am ONLY running a CAS and using that to time the motor through the ECU. I do not have a crank trigger wheel.

The biggest problem is I don't know which CAS to select from the options in the AEM software.

I'm pretty sure we wired the CAS correctly but anyone have any other suggestions they would be appreciated. My understanding is the 1.6L miata can supply a cam and crank angle signal to the ecu. I was under the impression that the 1.6 does not need a crank trigger wheel to run.

Anyone with any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The F/IC-6 on my 1.6 has the crank signal input wired to pin 2E from the harness. It uses pin 2G for the cam sensor signal. Both are hall effect sensors. I hope that helps. I don't know any EMS4 specifics.

Did you get it figured out? You are right that you will be able to run the car using just the CAS.

Don't have the AEM software in front of me to look at, but if there is a 4G63 option, you can use that. The DSMs used the same sensor and since its a more popular engine, there may be a preset in AEM Tuner.

Another option that will provide a higher resolution trigger is to use AEM's 12+1wheel in the cam sensor. Part #30-8760 is a direct swap for the stock 4+2 disk. This would allow you to use the 12+1 pattern that is popular with the AEM ECU.

I used the 12+1 SR CAS wheel from aem and AEM SR disc settings

There should be a preset for that disk. 12+1 and Hall sensor on both cam and crank.

There are and I used them. Only a CAS. The car runs well

Then what's your question?
