Default 90' MSM EMS-4 Toyota COP project

I working on a 90' Miata with a Mazdaspeed Miata engine. It has a voodoo II GT2560 kit. I will be running an AEM EMS-4 with Toyota COPs. I am in the process of building the harness. I finished mounting the coils and wiring them. I'll post more pics as I go along.

Are those Raychem SCL boots at the ends of the wiring?

It is similar. It is 4:1 instead of 2.5:1. Plus it dries a little harder than SCL. The Y transitions are home made from the same material of a larger diameter. The high shrink ratio makes it easy to do. SCL is just heat shrink. It is not a boot. Boots are pretty expensive, anywhere from $10-30 a piece.

Hi there,

I have a 93 1.8 miata running a megasquirt ecu and a disco potato turbo..

I have just purchased four COP's and the connectors and loom - could you please give me some advice on turning this into a loom for the COP's conversion on a miata do you have a wiring diagram for 93 miata please...

Thanks,

Hal.

There are many writeups on how to install COPs in your Miata. You can continue with the wasted spark method and follow the writeup in the link. If your megasquirt is worth anything you should be able find 2 more ignition outputs and run the COPs sequentially. It may take a bit more work and wiring but it will work the best.

Welcome to the forum and your wiring looks amazing. I will learn how to make a proper harness one day.

The coil gets 12v, engine gnd and signal from the ECU. There are a few different ways to get power. The MS won need to be remapped. You will just need to enable the extra coil outputs and change the dwell settings. .

That's great thanks EB Turbo - great information. If I am going for plug and play is there a plug I need to buy to wire the cop's loom into? I think I found a link to one but can't find it again now. Going to build my COP's this week..... Cheers Hal.

Sorted this thanks...
