Default Moving from Electromotive TechIIIr to AEM

I will be receiving these items soon.

EMS-1st gen

HD meth injection kit w/ filter.

Water/Meth Flow Gauge

Intake Air Temp Sensor

3.5 bar map sensor.

O2 sensor

serial gauge kits.

Adjustable Fuel pressure regulator

Boost control solenoid

Plug and Pin kit for 30-6050

I think I will also get a coolant sensor from AEM.

I have the coils and timing wheel from the Tech that I plan to use.

Couple questions:

The coils and timing wheel should work correctly?
I dont have any stock sensors in there for timing.
I have low imp 880 injectors. Do low imp work with it?
Will I be able to use my current TPS ?
Will I be able to use my current IAC ?
If I can use the stock TPS and IAC, what do I need to know about scaling for them??

This is a 1.8 block with 99 head.

I plan to actually document this build and have pics and dyno info for you

Thanks everyone. I look forward to joining the AEM team.

Jeff

You'll need resistors (like from an Accord) to run lo imped injectors.

Some have had trouble using a 60-2 wheel with the AEM. IMO a 12 or a 12-1 is best.

You can use the factory sensors.

What is a 30-6050?

More later.

I looked up that part number and it seem to be a series 2 unit for honda/acura diy harness kit.

Should, but not sure how to make it work.

Must use resistors.

Thats about all I can answer right now.

TPS will work, set the throttle range with the wizard, and then go in and change the values to read from 1% minimum to 95% maximum to work the smoothest on throttle based maps.

That sucks. Is it simple to run them? Well the real question is- should I get different injectors?

That also sucks. I will have to see what my tuner says about that. See if he is cool with it.

Thats good.

That is just the harness i think. I dont know LOL. Its what they are sending for me.

More later.
More later is good.

Thank you

Resistors are easy, just get some 10 ohm 20 watt resistors and wire them in-line with the power feed to the injectors. Its a really quick and easy job, takes about 20 minutes.

Cool, thanks Jeff.

I am pretty excited about teaming up with AEM. I think the car will become more serious now.

I say **** the 6 speed. I will show you guys what power will break it

Series 2 may be happy with 60-2 wheel, I dunno.
May also work with lo imped injectors.

I've never played with the S2 software. In the S1, the main board was all the same so you could adapt any board to any car with some minor differences in what inputs/outputs were brought out to the connectors. The trigger setup could be changed in the tuning software ("AEMPro") to work with any trigger wheel than any AEM worked with and more.

If you will use a for-Acura model you will want an adapter harness or hardwire it to the car using junkyard Acura mating connectors. (this is what I did with my seres 1 for-1995-Honda-AEM into my 2000)

Jason, this is a series 1 computer.

I will have to ask they guys at roadrace engineering if they have seen the series 1 with a 60 tooth wheel.

I can also just call aem

This is in regard to the injectors then, yes?

All of the sensors I have, stock or not are hooked up to the Tech system right now. The stock harness isnt in there.

The AEM will be run to each thing individually, like the Tech is now.
coils
timing wheel
injectors
IAT
MAP
That's about it.
Plus what ever the hell the meth/water injection uses. I dont know anything about that system.

Wow! That's a good score!

I think you're the first to use it in a Miata.

Yeah, I am pretty stoked. My tuner is a AEM master too. So it should be really awesome.

I am excited to see how the water/meth system works too.

I want to leave at about 360 or so whp/ftlbs. I think it will be pretty easy to do no higher than 25psi with spool I will be OK with. I believe I am at 20.9 psi with my 330hp and 316ftlbs. So with a new/better system for my tuner and water/meth, i think my goal will be easy.

I would go to about 27psi and see what happens, but I am scared to blow apart the 6 speed on my 1st run

I wonder what's stronger than 6-speeds tranny that we can put into Miata. Saw a few 6-speeds blown up from turbo miata in last couple months.

Same as a TII and they break too. The guys I drive with all use beefier trans than the RX7 models because 2-3 a season were breaking.

I am think a muscle car trans. T10 or T5 something like that.. Just need the time to have it fabbed up.

Thanks for the names Rafa. i think jason has been following this a bit. I will see what he says. if not, I will PM him.

TPS you don't need to know - there's a setup routine you run to set the votlages at 0 and 100% TPS.

Dunno about fuel level and oil pressure. There are ways to figure it out.
