can aem EMS read E85 flex fuel sensor?
i saw flyin miata came out with a kit for the Hydra using a Ford flex fuel sensor to detect and adjust the fuel/timing accordingly for the proper amount of Ethanol in the fuel. Is it possible to use the Ford sensor with the EMS? does anyone have any write ups on this? I did a quick search but came up with nothing.

Thanks for the read, im going to forward to my tuner. The reason i like this idea as was mentioned you never know the ethanol content.

Good read. I figured you could trim the fuel using the 0-5v user defined fuel trim, didn't know how they got the ignition advanced too. I guess using the switched nitrous advance works well enough.
Too bad I've only seen 1 E85 pump in my entire life. Assuming you have a perfect fuel map for 91 octane (or 93), how much % extra fuel would you generally want for E85? |

There is a firmware update for EMS-4 and Series II ECUs that will enable flex fuel contro. It will have separate flex fuel, timing and boost tables. It will also have blend tables for all of them. There will also be provisions for adding extra pressure and temp sensors as well as having engine protection functions for them. Like rev limits based on low and high water temp and rev limits based on fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temp.... There are a fair amount of screen shot floating around on the internet.
The Miata I am working on now is ready for Flex Fuel. It is pre wired for a flex sensor, and has all the needed fueling modifications. I just need the firmware and some tuning. EB Turbo |
i read the ems2 was getting the update, i was not aware of the ems4. I saw there coming out with another ecu but doesnt appear to be any apps for the miata yet. It sucks the ecu aem sells and there going to stop offering updates! I may jump ship for a ms3 unless i can find a good deal on a ems4
