EMS Fan control / settings?
Can the fans be set to go on as though they are wired in parallel, or does this still require hardware changes? Also, the basemap has them come on pretty early. Shouldn't they be set to something like 200F on and 185F off? Are there hysteresis settings?

only if the EMS can control two fan outputs or just a random second configurable output.
i honestly see no point to parallel fans. if your main stock fan can't handle the task then you have other issues, especially if you have an aftermarket rad. |
Mine come on at 210F (stock thermostat), and hysteresis is 10F...so they will turn off at 200F.
Normal config, the main fan is linked to this setting (driver side). The passenger fan is strictly linked to the AC relay and kicks on when the AC kicks on, basically. I rewired mine, so they are in parallel and both will come on when the ECU tells it to, and no fans come on with the AC (hardly use it except on hot days). But I may put it back to normal now that I got aftermarket rad and twin fans. we'll see |
I've tried to find the output for the fans as well and can't seem to change this aside from the settings that AEM put in.

Seems to me that it should be able to. I just wanted to set it up to see if there was any difference, if it is possible to do. I shouldn't need it. I'm running a Ron Davis radiator. More curiosity than anything as far as that goes.
oh yeah, and iirc, it's the 99+ that has a seperate a/c fan relay. 90-97 all have just the a/c relay that powers both the a/c fan and compressor. |

No, i'm wrong there; '95 has seperate relays. a/c fan relay is on 2S and main fan relay is 1L and a/c compressor relay is 1J.

Thanks for clarifying. I was just looking at the 30-1710 pinout and noticing that.

Unlock and start typing in "Rad". Rad Fan will come up. I believe it's LS6. Arrow down to see Rad Fan Off Below and Rad Fan On Above settings. You can change them in the adjacent cell. Just like everything else, you have to hit "Enter" once you change the value. |
I just put a jumper between the AC fan signal wire over to the wire for the main fan signal wire. That way when the main fan signal drops to ground, the AC fan relay also kicks in and runs in parallel.

BTW - Thanks for the Fuel map info, it was a big help. I'm struggling with Accel settings now, but it is at least somewhat driveable. |
