F/IC Noob Questions

I am getting an AEM F/IC8 and have a few questions. I was about to buy a innovative LC-1 wideband until i saw the software list for it. None of them mentioned an AEM software, will I be able to use this wideband with F/IC? Or do I have to get an AEM wideband? Also, what is the difficulty of the wiring? Is this something I can do in a weekend? Thanks

Wiring is quite complex. If you are wiring it in car it will be a massive pain in the ass. From my understanding the f/ic is only designed to work with the AEM UEGO. Another wideband could work, but I wouldn't chance it.

Alright thanks, I will just go with the AEM UEGO

While you are at it, you should make sure you get the ECU Patch extension harness to do your wiring...

I did not even know they made something like that. So basiclly if i get that the F/IC will be plug and play just about? Thanks, that is definitly something i am most likely going to get

If your miata is a 1996-2005, they make a plug and play harness. If your car is a 90-1995, you have to buy a harness extension and do all the wiring yourself. Website:

No offense intended, but it sounds like you need to do some more research before you pull the trigger....A FIC is not plug and play for our applications. It is probably somewhat easier to deal with than a full stand alone, but don't think you'll just slap in a few pieces of hardware and be ready to drive. You should view all the videos on the AEM site concerning the FIC. I'd recommend deciding if you want the FIC to deal with the MAF prior to ordering your harness. You can get a harness and wire it yourself as well. My car has a bloomslang, but the AEM unit can be sourced and the wiring done on your side.
