Hot car = timing goes nuts?

The last day we've been battlin something weird. After a few autocross runs the car starts gurgling and missing and dies as if it ran out of gas. So we figured it was a fueling issue and I swapped the fuel pump at lunch yesterday. Then it happened to me again yesterday afternoon and I was on course and noticed the tach going nuts like it does with launch control (intentional misfires) and so now it looks like its actually a timing sync problem. The only things I can think of that would cause this are bad either cam or crank sensors or wiring issues. There's no way I can diagnose wiring on site so last night I changed the cam and crank angle sensors to spares that other racers had and we'll see if it does it again today.

Anyone have any other idea what could be going wrong?.. 99 motor on factory timing wheel/cam/crank sensors.

The AEM EMS has a few settings for temperature/timing setting. Out of the box it increases timing as your intake air temperature goes up. You might want to have a look at that. It's under the advanced options in Ignition.
