Considering aero options for HPDE Car

First, please ignore the slight overkill currently holding up this corner of the ebay lip. I was adding rivnuts to the mounting to make it more easily removable when inspriation hit me. This car has the appearance package and it isn't going to be removed (building the car with my son and he likes it, he doesn't drive/compete yet). This means if I build it up for NASA TT5 I'm going to get hit with the aero penalty anyway so I plan to lean into it, even if it isn't optimal. The thought is to use the GV lip as part of the "spliter" since it is seen as one anyway and have it define the profile at the front of the car. Then near the side of the car it would come out to the edge of the bumper and then spats would go up to the wheelwell staying inside the profile of the body when viewed from above. Under the car the splitter would stop either at the front of the tire (SCCA CSP rules) or at the centerline of the axel (NASA TT rules). This would preserve the look and lines of the car while it is still doing double duty as a road car and HPDE car and provide some aero. But... now I have 2 questions 1) Am I missing something that would make it illegal in either CSP or TT5? 2) Would it provide enough downforce to be "worth it"? Lastly there is wording that ducting to the radiator is not permissable through an air dam, but is it fair game to block a portion of the "mouth" of the stock body work and then direct it through hood vents? |

well there you go... even has the spats. How far does that extended in front of the spliter? Looks like it is in front of the bumper too.
Do not confuse this with a track only version, as this is high drag and low down force compared to using a full lower wrap. Tried but couldn't get away from rods. |

looks to be ABS plastic sheet. Its what I used on my car, aluminum also works but you can can cut yourself if you don't put edging on.

Covering the tires is great! Covering the tires via the air-dam is even better! Not sure if it matters to you now, but neither of those methods are legal for TT5 aero. They would bump you up to TT3, technically.

Yes, the spats are not TT5 or 4 legal. And for TT3 the vertical splitter endplates would have to go. |
