DTMX5

This is a computer rendering picked of a facebook page GripMiata. Not sure who created it but is sure is pretty.
No direct side shot but my rough guess puts that tire at 335/40/18, roughly 5" taller than a 225/45/15. Despite being much taller, the front tire is further from door leading edge.. I think the artist has added some length, maybe 10" between front axle and firewall. Explains the beautiful proportions despite the tractor tires. Anyway, enjoy.

I remember seeing this on instagram and thinking it looks like a mercedes CLK GTR laid over a NA body lol

Yup, that hood sure is stretched! Cool pic's.

Padlock 01-21-2020 02:31 PM

give Passey a few more years and I'm sure Hyper will be close to this

^

to recreate, would probably be easier to start with a viper or something and lay fiberglass Miata panels over the top

blackzx3_13 01-21-2020 05:05 PM

I see lots of 550GT in the render.

hawt

surprised they didn't do a shark fin and endplate mounts...

Orginal creator is jj72_jg on Instagram. I contacted him to see about getting high quality copies of this, and he agreed to make some 1440 and 4K versions for background usage. I'll copy them here if he comes though.

I love the render. Makes me wish Mazda had done something like this mid 90's and taken it to LeMans... Obviously minus the 1.6, but a certain 4 rotor would have fit nicely had it not been banned...

blackzx3_13 01-22-2020 10:05 AM

Did he create a 3d model for this, or was it just retouching images? Because if there is a 3d model, theoretically, molds could be made. . . .

I assure you its entirely digital rendering.

It it should go without saying that there are several features on the body work that make no sense aerodynamically but it still looks really cool.

Because of the increase in frontal area, drag coefficient, and those huge draggy tires such a car would need a minimum of 600 horsepower to be faster than a regular Miata on 245's and 350 horsepower.

But it would win Cars and Coffee hands down.

I had assumed as much.

Can't get over how good that looks! Thanks for the post. Every since our big Texas brand Hennessey Venom GT was released I've been dying to see another small car get a stretch for performance. Granted they stretched the rear and not the front; but yall get it.

If anyone was interested there is a guy making the miata pictured that Emilio shared. His Instagram is Scrappinmiata. Unfortunately I believe this car is going to be a show car and never see the track. Still cool to see all the custom metal work that is going into it.

I will give all my cats to the person who buys this and swaps in a built K20 with all the needed goodies.

Looks good. Then again, it would look cooler if all the surfaces had an aerodynamic purpose/were actually designed instead of just drawing stuff. Even better if it was an actual track build, not a stanceboi showcar.

BMW V10 with DCT or bust.

DCT swap all the things.. I might be a bit biased :D

I can't be the only one genuinely wondering how they are going to manage the suspension, wheel, and tire aspect of this car... I will be following...

You are perhaps assuming attempts at managing those aspects will be made. I'm as skeptical as you are.

This is me just brainstorming out loud so take it for what it is, but we know a miata can aggressively fit a 15x10 +25 under essentially a flat rolled OEM fender. The flares shown are at least another 4" (likely more) of width per side? Let's say you run an 18" diameter wheel and you want it flush to the new fenders per the render. That is one heck of an oddball spec wheel in regards to width and offset if you are keeping the OEM suspension. I'm not even sure that wheel exists short of some custom 3pc wheel. Even if it did, how will you turn without tire hitting fender if the hub is in OEM location?

The only solution I really see coming out of this would be some sort of pushrod suspension design that revamps the entire suspension and steering system on the chassis. Doing this properly is no small feat, but neither is the body work progress that they've made so far. This would be an incredible showcase of design and fabrication skills if this car came out of this build as functional as it looks in render... time will tell. I'm hoping my skepticism is wrong.

k24madness 04-18-2020 12:08 AM

By the time you modify suspension (extended control arms etc) to move pivot points out you’d then need crazy spring rates to make it work. The Miata chassis would then reach its limit and become the weakest sprung part of that system. The 600+hp to push those tires and aero would add another element of problems. If this car is intended to be anything more than a prop I see a tube frame chassis underneath while using the skins shown to cover it all. Still none of it makes sense. I think someone with good sheet metal skills was bored and wanted to make a model car.

Wingman703 04-18-2020 10:14 PM

Obviously the answer is stretched 205's on a 10" wheel and 4" spacers.
