Got a roll of Tomei heat wrap as a gift from a friend. Wrapped the downpipe while the transmission was out getting re-sealed and the new clutch put in.

lol its just there til the wrapping dries. You're supposed to soak it in water so it goes on closer or something. Its off now that the dp is back on the car.

By the way, installed the ACT 6 puck as well as put the transmission back on tonight

After hooking up the new slave cylinder tomorrow and connecting everything it is back with the fury and I can start upping the boost

Any news on your motor situation? Did you decide to go built or did you find a decent replacement.

I just picked up some 9.0:1 pistons. They appear to be in excellent condition. Honed my stock block. Will be putting in these pistons and new rings probably this weekend. Then put everything back together with new gaskets and seals. Will be running only 10psi of boost and make sure my tuning is spot on and just drive it like that for now. Also doing a coolant re-route.
Later on down the road when I'm rolling in money (yeah right) I'll be building up a spare engine the PROPER way

LOL, I hear you man. My only probably is that my block is .060 overbore so I have to get expensive *** pistons

I'm thinking about just going with a custom BelFab kit, when I'm rolling in it

Got an ETA on the new motor?

You were able to just hone out #4? From the pic on your other thread it looks totally jacked up. Remember, if you can catch any vertical score on your cyl wall then it will leak compression.

I'll start assembling everything this saturday. Hopefully it wont take more than a week or 2. I have limited time to work on it right now.

If you're going forged pistons I've heard from a few people that Wiseco is the way to go.

It was at the very top and it was a fairly small scuff. Honed out

I'll double check compression before throwing motor back in though. Just to be safe

You are more lucky that you know considering the condition that piston was in.

I agree. And I am still VERY iffy about keeping this block. Even though it honed out I would have much rather just thrown another shortblock in that hasn't been honed.

But my dad, who's built a butt load of engines in his time, swears up and down and sideways that it will be fine this way. So I'm giving it a shot. Hopefully I'm not making a mistake.

Now to order rings. Are RockAuto rings as good as or better than stock?

I need rings and need the best ones out there.
