There Is no filter. I don't run a filter on it I may put a screen on it but that's about it. The car gets so few miles it shouldn't be a problem.

No not really. I have driven a fair amount of miles with no filter and no hood and never had a problem. I am one of 4 of my buddies that have no filter all of our cars seem to be fine. Only reason I would even run a screen is to keep the big stuff out and worse case if some wiring or something came loose in the engine bay to keep that out of the turbo.

I'm in the camp that thinks it's horribly unwise to run without a filter but hey, it's your car.

On this turbo 370z I built there was no filter. We were gonna put a screen on but we didn't get to it before it was dyno'd. Mid dyno run I had to get the tuner to shut it down as the turbo was trying to eat parts of the car. A rubber seal was literally being sucked into the compressor.

We made a little screen for it right then.

I see a filter/screen like a seatbelt. Sure, 99.999999999999% of the time it's not needed. But for the minimal time investment it takes, and the drastic consequences if something were to happen without it, why not?

The turbo will get a screen I have just not put it on yet. I really should do it sooner than later. I live on a road that has a lot of gravel. I will put one on this weekend and post some pics so you all know my turbo is safe from small rocks and birds.

Well hello everyone. I have not made any updates because I just had a child and with the weather I have only been able to drive the car a little bit. Currently it is setting at 20psi and running strong until last weekend all was great. I need to wire in the IAT gauge sensors and I need a new wideband sensor mine died. I assume it died from all the oil it saw when I blew the last engine.lol

On a side note I know I am making power now. The w58 transmission I have is know to be a bomb at 400whp with a supra weighing in at 3800lbs. I figured I would be good for closer to 500 with 2800lbs with two people. I have no idea how much power I have but I do know it I destroyed my trans this weekend. Rolled into third pulled for about 2 seconds and BOOM BANG CRUNCH GRIND all I have left is 4th gear. Nothing else works. I will be towing the car back to my house in a week or so when the snow melts to give more updates on what happened.

I have a spare W58 at my house but I am looking into other transmission to replace it. I am leaning towards the MA5 colorado transmission at the moment if I can figure out what parts I need to make it work.

Like from the truck? Thats the same as the sky/solstice one but with a different 3rd gear right?

Yes like from the truck or sky/soltice toyota used the same style R series NISIN transmission and it should be easy enough to adapt. I could get an R154 out of an old turbo supra but they are getting very expensive $800-$1000 used the trans out of the Colorado can be had for about $300-$400 with low mileage. Either way I need a new slave, clutch flywheel setup so I will try and do it as cheap as possible. I would love to use the flywheel and pressure plate I have with an s10 disc and the internal throw out bearing I am still looking into it.

The Rseries transmission has been known to hold 700+ HP in stock form the one from the colorado has the new style synchros so no more shifting like a truck like the old R154 would.

The other option would be the CD009 out of a 350/370Z the newer ones are known to hold up and they make an adapter plate to bolt it on. The only thing pushing me away from that is there is only one place to get a clutch setup and I cant find any info where someone says use x pressure plate with X disc and x flywheel so you are limited to one company that wants $1500 for the clutch setup I am not cool with that.

Wow the irony, upgrade your supra to the truck transmission so it no longer shifts like a truck.

To all my beloved fans. I have a very minor update. I got my new wheels in and got the back tires mounted up. I had to make a cheetah blaster to get them mounted but it worked fantastic!!! Also I have not got a lot of work done due to having a baby and as you can see she is always scheming something up.lol Enjoy.

Wheels are Bassett racing (10000X's better than my old diamonds)

Also I got a set of 225/50r15 Mikey Thompson ET Streets form Faeflora. He said they were to squishy for his liking so I stretched them on the rear 10" this should stabilize them a bit at speed. They have what I would like to call a perfect stretch not too much not too little.
