Default And on the 6th day he said, LET THERE BE BOOST (my 2nd setup)

As most of you know, I got rid of my hks2535 setup a few months ago to go bigger. Parted out setup, passed smog, and been driving turbo-less these last few months.

Welp, today I said to myself: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I need to stop getting spanked by civic hybrids and prius'.

threw on header and turbo and welded up the coldside piping as well as mounted the new interfooler.

Pics.

Churbo test fitted ok (had to bend the rail like most). interfooler is perfect size and went on without much hassle. Cutting/welding the aluminum piping was quite a bit more challenging but I managed to finish up the cold side piping.

Haven't started on exhaust yet cause I need a turbo-to-downpipe flange.

More updates to follow

that turbo is monstrous for a Miata. What numbers are you aiming for?

going to do it a little different than most.
instead of down (like most) I want to route it forward and through the hole right behind the headlight down and into the interfooler.

Some here have done this, and I like the way it came out.

I sure as **** can't fit this turbo in there routed down though. Not with this manifold anyways.

One thing I am a bit proud of (and think is cool) is that I'll be fabricating/welding the piping so that there are only 4 couplers to the whole fmic piping. Less potential failure points = win imho

I want to max out the stock intake mani (probably somewhere around 350whp) and see how I like it. If I'm still bored at that point I'll step up to a custom big boy manifold and ramhorn exhaust mani and go from there. Having all the headroom makes me sleep better at night

Just ordered the turbo-to-downpipe flange to fab up a nice bellmouth downpipe. The one that came with the churbo is cast and is a POS.

Making a list for myself so I don't forget to do anything. Here's what I have left:

1.fabricate coldside piping
2.weld up downpipe (when flange gets here)
3.weld the exhaust together
4.clean up and powdercoat compressor housing
5.hook up oil feed/return
6.hook up boost gauge and wbo2
7.solder MAP wiring back into harness/connect adaptronic
8.weld in BOV and IAT bungs
9.replace valve cover gasket
10.repaint valve cover (going with wrinkle black this time)
11.re-install ID1000's
12.install walbro 255HP

Finally! How much of the frame rail did you have to trim, just bend down the lip? Looks like it fits in there pretty easily.

Yup, just bent the lip down. Not even all the way down either. Was going to trim it, but my father walks up to it with a BIG *** hammer, goes "check this out" *BANG* and it all fit

lil bit of progress today.

fmic is pretty much done.

Hotside piping turned out way better than I planned.
Super smooth route with no failure points or potential problems that I can see.

Now to just weld on the IAT bung and spray the whole thing black.

Then its onto exhaust.

downpipe flange came in today and ITS THE WRONG ONE

I ******* hate Godspeed. They sell the turbo, then sell me the flange for it, and it doesn't fit

The 5 bolt turbine-to-downpipe pattern is the weirdest **** I've ever seen and I guess I'll have to custom make a flange for it.

NOT using the v-band **** that came with it simply because its horrible quality and would take away from the bend of the downpipe forcing me to make a "cheater" bend and assfuck the flow. Which I'm not about to do.

More updates soon

Thats how I wanted to do my charge piping, but then I ended up doing the over the rad like you had before.
There should be a sticky informing everyone with an NB that this is possible, because you really dont see it as much as you should.

~320whp in my experience. Picked up 9whp and 1tq from 3psi. (311/[email protected] to 320/[email protected]). At that boost level you'll probably pick up 40-50whp with an intake manifold.

Is there any way to clock the compressor to lay that IC pipe a bit flatter against the engine bay? It would be much more aesthetically pleasing IMO.

Is that one piece of pipe on the hot side? I want to redo mine to have it enter the fender more forward like yours.

Yes, I was honestly surprised I haven't seen it before very often.
I think I've seen it on only like 2 cars. Both not from here. Both with big turbo's.

Is that with e85?
Either way I'll be happy with anything over 300 on the stock mani, but it will definitely start moving up my priority list to source a high flow one.

We fiddled with the angle of the turbo quite a bit, and for whatever reason this angle seemed to work best. Doesn't look all that great, but any more counter clockwise and the turbo touches the mani, and any more clockwise and it hits the wga...

It fits fine too. Doesn't even come close to the hood. Just doesn't look super cool.
