I had no idea how true Soviets chart actually was until I got there. 300+hp Miata does not a daily driver make :giggle:

18psi 01-28-2016 11:28 AM

Taking notes....

EO2K 01-28-2016 12:08 PM

The answer is moar tire. Or apparently Racelogic traction control from what I gathered from the conversation last night.

99mx5 01-28-2016 01:55 PM

^ This. Most people ask, "What does it do in the quarter mile?" I usually respond, "I have no traction."

18psi 01-28-2016 02:18 PM

buddy of mine with 400+ actually went through the traps sideways

12.6 @ 127 if I remember correctly

takes as much steering to keep it straight as it takes for some to get sideways

Nice! I still have to get my car on a Dynojet...
The car has been a solid runner. I recently received that "FB memory" notification that showed me a pic of the block being built I posted 3 years ago. The first and only engine I have ever built has been track reliable since then.

99mx5 03-25-2016 06:46 PM

I finally did it! Tomorrow is the first event of the season and I have been prepping the car. I found an exhaust leak and found that the turbo flange cracked at the manifold. I wrote an email to Abe at ArTech for repairs. I'll post pics when I pull the manifold.

18psi 03-25-2016 08:28 PM

Ouch. gonna run it as is or patch it up?

99mx5 03-25-2016 09:26 PM

Whole flange is loose. The plan is to send it to Abe to get it fixed and reinforced.

Arca_ex 03-26-2016 02:51 AM

Still going to run it before you tear into it?

If so, good luck out there man and take video.

99mx5 03-26-2016 03:06 AM

Thanks, but it's too far gone to use. I'll be at the track tomorrow in another car.

Mobius 03-26-2016 03:32 AM

No hood exhaust in the sky or go home!

2 Attachment(s)
Here is my manifold on crack. It is cracked all the way around. That last part by that stud is all that is holding the flange on.

How many hours are on this manifold? Any idea?

18psi 04-02-2016 02:39 AM

methinks these long tubey setups are gonna need support/cranes

99mx5 04-02-2016 03:32 AM

This manifold has been on the car for four years with heavy abuse on the track. Every event I run a full tank dry. Mostly at WOT and hitting redline.

The rest of the manifold is cherry. I think adding gussets to the turbo flange should solve the issue. This manifold is a testament to ARTech's builld quality. I do have a downpipe brace at the transmission bolts. I'd like to get the turbo flange replaced and use a TrackSpeed M8 Inconel stud kit. I already ordered the stud kit.

OOf, Was this over time or did the crack initiate rapidly when you noticed?
