so you blew up a stock 1.6 and now you put in a stock 1.8 and you're going to blow it up too.

A+ thread can't wait for updates

I like where this is going.

so he took a salvaged car and is enjoying his building/learning process. props.
he's drifting and not chasing that next .02" on his lap time, big deal. at least he's tracking the car.
keep up the subjectively mediocre work OP.

Yes, we should all praise him for slapping on cheap parts and systematically destroying a car.

Everybody's a winner right?

I replaced it once. I got it for $5 + $3 of spray paint

It was an interesting mix of decent parts and **** parts. Nobody is surprised that you blew up the 1.6 with the FMU, get a damn megasquirt, you clearly have the money if you're buying Artech parts.
I would if braineack would ever respond to my PM...

so you blew up a stock 1.6 and now you put in a stock 1.8 and you're going to blow it up too.
I pretty much counted on blowing the 1.6 up when I put the turbo on. Notice I'm going ARtech manifold, megasquirt, bigger injectors, etc. this time around?

Yes, we should all praise him for slapping on cheap parts and systematically destroying a car.
Cheap is the name of the game with a drift car, I've seen more than one person out there turn a really nice car into a POS real quick, including a brand new FRS. There's no point spending a ton of money on something that's going to get beat the hell out of and crashed into a few walls.

Came with the car, I just relocated them, now I can actually hear the stereo over my car on the 1.5hrs each way of freeway to and from the track.

It also had/has this quarter panel fitment:

In other news, my ARtech manifold came in today! I also purchased a cheap laptop to tune a megasquirt with yesterday. Oh, and sent my 460cc injectors off to witchhunter to be cleaned and flow tested. I work weekends so I probably won't get much else done until tuesday, then I'm planning on getting the new engine in and everything hooked up and ready to go by thursday. Since I'm using the 1.8 throttle body I don't know that it'll be able to start until I get a MS in there so then we'll play the waiting game...

Congratulations, you've now joined them.

Were you hoping for people here to praise what you've done? This is a forum based around a car that we like. You take said car and smash it into walls repeatedly.

It's akin to buying a nice painting, drawing sharpie dicks all over it, then showing up at the gallery with it expecting people to respect what you've done.

Back in the 60's during the drug explosion, it was said that "everything starts in California and moves east."
That being stated, "I hope California breaks off the continent and falls into the ocean before this trend infects the rest of the country."
I truly am glad to see you're planning on running megasquirt, and other respected goodies, but when the sun rises...I guess drifter's gonna drift.

Spec miata drivers wreck all the time haha, but that's the miata's "intended purpose" so it's not "ruining" the car, right? I'm pretty sure the miata's intended purpose was to be a really fun car for really cheap, which is exactly what I'm doing with it!

Don't listen to the nay-Sayers, if you're having fun and spending your own money that's all that maters.

Amen to that. I enjoy seeing someone stray from conformity, glad you posted and hope you continue to keep us updated. Work with what you've got, do what you enjoy, if you break it, rebuild it and make it better. When the chassis is done, there's a billion more out there waiting for you to destroy.

Also, I hope you take pride in those negative props. I did what I could to help you out, but it's a losing battle around here, lol.
