You left the blow off valve wide open. Do you honestly count those 700 miles as experience of a bigass turbo? Or do I just not follow what you type close enough. That'd probably be pretty relevant info to add, were you going bragging about what your experience with certain setups is.

You obviously still aren't happy with your car as it is either, the thread you opened asking for help makes it obvious. Now you are in this thread saying you are ecstatic about how well it works? What the hell is it, could you try and be a tad more consistent?

To be fair his new thread wasn't "My car sucks, how do i make it good" It was more "I like my car, how do i make it better"

It sounded a lot like, "why my car no make power like everyone else?" to me, but what do I know.

Budget is a significant portion of this too. I make decent money, and live cheap. But I don't have coin to go dropping on big money turbos all the time.

Right now I have about a 2.5k budget for the motor. (pistons, rods, oil pump, damper) and I would like to keep the turbo setup under 1k. with a cheap HX30 I bet I could keep the setup under $500.
I could get you a good deal on Fae's setup. You know you want to run ALLOFIT!

As for 500-600 rwhp, there are so few Miatas out there making that much power that it's unclear what's going to break at that point. I would bet that there are a bunch of things that are fine at 350 that aren't at 550 other than just the rods & pistons.

There are a bunch of benefits from a twin scroll housing. You get better transient response. Better VE,

Poor mans VGT

Basically you get one with higher velocity and one with higher flow. You end up with better spool, and more topend

Mazda SAE paper from years ago

Mazda scientifically tests single scroll vs twin scroll turbos - RX7Club.com

There is some good actual info in that thread if you keep reading.

I've been considering switching to a k03 or k04, because I want all the boost at 1500 rpm and I don't care about anything more than 200-250 ft/lbs.

They make cheap china ones, just have to make a manifold. They have such tiny inlets though, it would be a trick manifold to make.

It runs 7's in the 1/8 mile with 0.4 second gear changes from a dying master cylinder. It's making about 350whp just like it sits, which was my goal when I began designing the SC setup. That thread titled "how do I get more boost/power with my supercharger" was about how to get more boost and more power from my supercharger. And I got some great answers from some of the smartest people on this forum, which is exactly what I hoped for.

Talk to @yank he has one that small from a BMW or something. If you asked nice maybe we could fab you a manifold for it.

I literally smiled at this. I guess I was "braggin" when I said I was stupid enough to leave the BOV open, and not figure out that was the problem for so long that it was 2 years after I took it apart before I even figured it out. Clearly I was looking cool. Or maybe I was embarased but felt I should be honest about it now that I finally know why that setup sucked so bad. Nah, probably bragging.

To be fair I would brag if I had an EFR7670 sitting at home too....

Pat, you should loan that to me for a bit. Aren't you interested in how much power it would make?

I'll sell it, not about to loan it. If you seriously want to buy it, I would consider selling it. I actually would be interested to see what it could make.

Honestly you would be offended if I offered what I would be willing to pay for it. I really don't want a big dollar turbo.

I won't be offended, I'll just say no if it's not enough for me to sell it. It's just sitting in the living room next to the GT3271 and some broken pistons and a few other broken parts. I kept it cause I figured one day it might go back on the miata. Now that I know why it spooled so bad, if the SC were to take a crap on me, that's probably what I'd do. But I think I finally got the SC setup ironed out after way too many problems/design flaws/crappy welds/etc.

My turbo $$$ stack right now is 600. If that buys me an EFR I'll probably cry. And even take a video of it :P
