On my coils, I need 3ms dwell to fire a 30thou gap at 38 PSI clean. To fire a 40thou gap at 38 I need 6ms dwell.

Not D585 though, right? If so, thought 5ms was max before autoignition

No, I run IGN1A coils. Similar power output from what I've read vs GM coils. I know some GM coils will auto discharge, these don't so I run more dwell for all the spark. Just adding info so if he's trying to run .045 gap with 3 or 4ms, that might not work with boost. I need 6 to run 40 clean with high boost.

My plugs are gapped to .028" because it started to blow out at higher loads once. I wonder if I have a bum set of coils or simply a coil needing to be replaced. (D585) only 23psi

10psi

So I was able to slam the wires in and get them to click. And it helped a lot. Like a misfire every minute or so to maybe 2 or 3 every 10. But its still there. Plugs are all gapped to .035". I wonder if its still a plug wire issue or something else.

I hate **** like this. I'm probably going to take a bit of time off from the car to work on the tune and relax a bit. Been going on this hard for too long, and a stupid problem like this pisses me off.

LOL. When I first turbo'd my car way back, the very first drive I hooked the wastegate hoses up backwards on the external gate so the more boost I made, the tighter it held the gate shut. hit 20 psi before I hit boost cut. I thought that was 8 PSI (wastegate spring pressure) and also poo'd my pants, and couldn't believe how fast 8lbs was! Looking forward to more videos!

I need to fix the misfire before anything else. Not sure when that will happen.

Try a little silicone spray on the boots and a hammer.

It's an issue with the terminal being too far up the wires. So it has to get pushed in so far that it like squishes the boot.

Josh do you have an vvt to ls coil wires I could test out?

I must be confused. Are you talking about the wire is not seating on the plug all the way?

When the wires were made the terminal was too far up the boot. So the sealing part of the boot needs to be squished into the valve cover. Which I got it to. Still misfires and I'm about 80% sure the coil wires are fine.

Possibru. Still don't have a way to reliably reproduce it though.
