Alright here is where I'm at.

Theoretically the motor is fine. I was watching oil pressure the whole time after the spin, and driving off the track. Never dropped below 10psi (never rev'd above 2500rpm either). So hopefully thats still ok.

Parts showed up today.

12AN-3/4NPT + 12AN 45* pushlok fitting. Here is the progression of oil lines.

I feel the need to point out that after all the effort to make your drain hose larger, your car still smokes, so maybe the "too small" drain hose that works on 40+ other cars isn't actually causing your problem. I would screw an unmodified -10AN fitting back in and not think twice.

Saying it now, I think it's your turbo seals and I think it's been turbo seals all along. I think it's a shame that Mike sent you down this wild goose chase. He's a nice guy and I'm sure he meant well but you and he both ignored a tremendous amount of empirical data here.

I don't disagree with you at this point. But I've got all the pieces here, I might as well do AN12. It would require the same amount of work as AN10. Currently I'm just short 1 fitting. The 45* interferes with the steering rack, so I need a 60* fitting. Hopefully someone has one around here otherwise no track day on Monday.

Lots going on in the thread. But the AN10 bung was welded into the pan when it broke. So I had to drill and tap to 3/4npt anyway.

AN10 is probably not too small. But at this point I'm just trying to get the car back on the road and these are the pieces I have.

Ah, I didn't realize you welded a bung in.

I have become a fan of JB Quik applied like Loctite. With the pan off, you can drill, tap, install the fitting, and set the pan on its side, and it creates a nice, neat bead around the fitting. Even without the pan on its side, the Quik version sets up fast enough that it doesn't drip and smear all over the place. Zero leaks and you can actually remove it with a big pipe wrench should you ever need to.

Yeah, the weld weakened when I drilled the bung out, and then pulled out of the pan.

Good idea. I will do something like that this time around. Currently trying to find a 60* fitting, otherwise I will use a brass hose barb from Ace racing. It only needs to last through Monday track day. Then I can order a 60* fitting and do it right.

Have you actually gotten a fitting out that has been jb welded in? I haven't tried.

I have, yeah. I had a pan with an old -8AN FM/BEGi fitting in it that I wanted to swap for my -10AN Anotuff fitting. I have at least half a dozen spare pans in my shop at this point, so I grabbed a big pipe wrench and gave it a shot. It popped loose and spun right out, which surprised me.

Cool, good to know. I may use a Barb fitting that I can find tomorrow for the track day and rebuild it with an AN fitting down the road.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah, the JB weld breaks loose fairly easily, just put a big socket/wrench on the fitting and it cracks.

Well after all that I ended up with a hose barb.

Chuck fell off the lathe that was fun. So an extra trip to the hardware store. But its jb welded in. Taking a break while the mineral spirits clear and the jb weld sets. then its new drain line, oil change with cheap oil, then a filter and Mobil1 change. Then a car was with underbody spray, then the 3 hour drive to the track.

Sounds doable right....

So far so good.

Need to finish packing and loading. Then hit the car wash. Grocery store, and then a 3 hour drive to the track. Fingers crossed.

I JB welded a brass fitting in my oil pan back in 2007-2008 or so, and ran it till 2012-2013. It never leaked a drop, and it looked pretty much like what you did except I was messier with the JB weld, so I think you have nothing to worry about. GL at the track!

Sums up my weekend pretty well.

Rain just started. 150 miles till home. Gonna be a long one.

Car has a shimmy over 100mph. Nothing obviously loose. Ideas?

Also the coating of brass on my Turbo fittings around the wastegate leads me to believe I toasted another bushing.

Over 2000 street miles with no issue. 2 track days and it's gone again. Kind of bummed.

Andrew, do you have any customers that track their turbosmart wastegates (hard)? Any issues?
