Who's your contact at SE Power Systems regarding BW EFR rebuilds? I will be pulling my built VVT out soon and want to send out the turbo while I'm at it so I can get it doubled checked. I keep getting a lot of oil in my through my charge pipe which then goes into my intake manifold and just want to make sure the turbo isn't bad.

Thanks man! Good luck with the build. Did they say if they found anything wrong with your turbo you sent to them?

Ryan_G's turbo was leaking oil into the compressor housing. The turbine wheel had some damage and even though the seals checked out in static bench testing, I believe that the imbalance due to the damage likely caused a high speed vibration allowing the oil to pass.

You've never had excitement until you shoot a half quart of oil out the front of a turbo, lol. FYI, always make sure you remove any plastic drain plugs before installing your fittings....

I'm not sure if that or the nice smokey dyno a few days later was more exciting.

I believe the solenoid itself is actually identical (VICS and VTCS)

It is. They just "trigger" (or whatever you want to call it) backwards from each other. On the manifold end, that is. So if you run a VTCS manifold (ew) and don't change your settings, might actually shut that bad boy in the midrange, which makes for interesting feels.

My EFR 6758 is doing the same thing. Will be pulling the motor out soon for a new oil pump and valve stem seals so I'll be able to take a better look. I hope mine is good!

I spy Craig's trailer! Heard you had fun spinning a 996 all day Thursday?

Is this a built motor or just a temporary one?

This is his old 99 motor that he beat on for a few seasons. I'm gonna toss it in for now and rebuild my other motor over some time.

996 was pretty fun. The 10 year old tires sucked, but the re71s in the afternoon were fun.

Oh so that's the one that he told me to turn the boost up until it blows. Gotcha.

Don't worry, he ran out of turbo and it never blew.

Yup. I may take a look at the bearings, or I might just toss it in as is. Seems like it will work just great at low boost.

I don't think Aidan is going to have that problem.
