Coolant Temp/Oil Temp warning levels question.
I think I am going to get a VEI systems dual gauge for oil and coolant temp. Hopefully I will put it in the stock water temp gauge spot.
The VEI systems gauge has an alarm that can be set for each temperature. What temp levels should I have the warning set for?
Water: 230?
Oil: same? higher? lower?

I would say closer to 205F...in fact I think I have seen that number in just the past few days.....I mean the point of the alarm is to let you know, 'hey its getting hot in hur,'' right? I know most gasoline motors have thermostats that open below 200F so anything north of that would be a good starting point but 230F sounds like blown head gasket territory to me but I could be wrong.

Morning off from class so I got around to putting my new seats in. Got the drivers side done, still need to mount the sub strap and make the back braces.
First impressions are it is very, very upright. I'm going to try and raise the front tonight and see if that changes anything, otherwise it feels great and I like it so far.

Yeah I think I paid 240 for 2. I think with some adjustment and lumbar padding I can make it work. Road trip to Seattle this weekend will tell the real story.

So VEI's new website sucks but I emailed them and its 135$ for dual temp sensors. Anybody know what the stock 1.6 gauge sensor thread pitch is? Searching hasn't returned anything about the little sensor.
For oil I tried finding a way to tee it into the oil feed line but couldn't find anything I like so I think I'm going to find a drain plug adaptor. Any suggestions?

I am starting this thread in hopes of creating a single repository for the combined community knowledge on how to get the 89-05 Miatas to run cooler. For those of you new to Miatas and/or new to the track, they run hot! A bone stock but perfectly maintained NA6 with A/C will run 230° clt at a steady 70mph on a 100° day. Use full throttle a lot or add a bit of power and you're at 245°. Head gasket lets go at around 255°.

Got a nice package in the mail today. When I bought my hans I got double rewards points from saferacer, and put them to use.
Started in on the Aerocatches. I'll do a full writeup later when I finish the second one but they were a bitch to do.
