I would never stop!

That was a great weekend. We found an old spec Miata racer who ran a group down with us so we could play. It was a blast following him. I finished the day with a 2:14.7 on a fast lap.

I'm definitely at the limit of grip on these tires...and I love it. The car is very neutral and when it let's go its a nice controlled 4 wheel slide. Only had one off all weekend, same as last year, turn 3. Too much entry speed, car started to rotate so I pointed it straight and ran off into the dirt.

Some minor electrical gremlins with my vei gauge to figure out but otherwise I love the way the car is. I would need more grip if I wanted more power.

Ran 4psi all weekend. Just enough to pass BMWs on the straights but not too much for the straights.

Ian what group is that. I want to run with them.

You need a push to pass button. 4psi is weaksauce. Just for straights because rocketship.

4psi was perfect for playing with the spec miatas. I did run full boost a couple times after a cobra pointed me by and didn't lift twice.

Pretty nasty squeel in neutral that goes away when I push the clutch in. Throwout bearing right?
FML the trans was out last week.
Less than an hour left. I need to park in the garage, and leave the car for a day or 2 lol.

I thought TOB squeal only came about when the clutch is in, since it's the only time it's loaded against the pressure plate. I may be wrong, though.

Monday is my Sunday, I slept in late until 6 today

Neutral noise could still be TOB. It could be stiff and getting close to siezure causing it to slip against the clutch fingers or fork making a squeal, but as soon as it loads up it gets forced to turn and it quieted down.

Yes they squeal while they have no pressure, then quiet up when they're up against the pressure plate. It's a TOB.

If you didn't adjust your clutch pedal perfectly, a long weekend like this could destroy a perfectly good TOB.

Hmm that could have been it. I also think I accidentally put in the TIB from the auction car instead if the one I bought last year.
Real question:
Can I run like this for a few more months, and what's the worst thing that can happen?

I had a Mustang do this once. TOB sizes up and ceases to function as a bearing and becomes a very dull cutter on a 200+ HP lathe. It then attempts to machine the fingers on the pressure plate or the transmission input shaft. Or both if you don't catch it fast enough. Because its not a cutter, it fails spectacularly at both tasks.

Its good practice to make sure the clutch fork isnt loaded when everything is at rest after any clutch work.

Get under the car and see if there is any free play in the fork. If there isnt, make it so, and that may buy you some time.

Just to scare you more, I have a theory that when the bearing siezes and starts to "lathe" the fingers, it transfers much more radial load to the fingers. This causes them to start breaking off.

This sort of thing can happen too

Bwuahahahahaha
