So I figured out how to extend the shifter on the t5 for you. It involves finding a source for a t5 offset lever, doesnt matter what version of the tranny. I had to buy one used because for the life of me I couldnt find anyone selling one new. I still havent figured out a boot solution yet for the freeze plug.

I have an idea for the freeze plug. Make an aluminum bushing that fits in the freeze plug location and inside the bushing use an axle shaft seal on the shift extension

What is the offset shifter. Pictures?

Had a mix of good and bad today. I love Oregon Raceway Park it's so much fun. It was an open lapping day which was awesome.

Npt is the devil. Last night my fuel pressure sensor leak. Today brake caliper connection was leaking. Brake fluid everywhere.

Star specs are done after 6 events really pissed off about this.

Manifold has another small crack. Not very pissed off about this easy to fix.

Will post pictures later

I have only mocked it up, because I'm trying to finish other stuff first. And I'm a bit afraid to weld on the ford t5 offset lever since I have no source on a replacement.

About to cord. 6 track days. 1 auto-x. 3* camber. 0 toe I believe.

Never thought the manifold would crack like this. It's in the middle of the pipe. Any thoughts?

Ed did a few laps with his rear pad in backwards.

Weld the manifold back up and keep going?

The tires look like they should have been flipped a couple events ago.

Post a picture. Does the offset lever just extend the shifter out of the housing. That was my original plan. Extend the shift rod out the freeze plug. Seal the shift rod with a shaft seal and then make a new plate to both block off the turret and move the shifter back.

It makes sense in my head I swear.

Manifold will be welded. Curious if it goes through. No leak or anything.

Tires were flipped. Other side is bad.

"offset level" is borgwarner speak for the right angle thingy that connects to the shift rod and has the cut for the ball on the shifter stick to go into. I'm going to weld a block onto the one that fits the tranny with a hole drilled in it for an additional piece of rod and roll pin. And then the offset lever I bought for like a chevy t5 is what I'll put on the end of the rod just to basically use as the shifter tip.

More pressure, if that makes you slower, then just care less about tire life.

I think we are thinking the same thing. I'm working off pictures. Why do you need to weld it together?

I just expected more out of the star specs. Rs3s are in stock. And will be probably be ordered tonight. Hailey wants new tires for her first track day.

Because the shift rod stick most of the way into its hole and I need like some meat to stick and pin the extended shift rod too. I need to keep the offset lever because it also does the shift gates and the shift detents.

Basically exactly this final solution that I found literally just now when I was trying to see if the guy that used rod ends figured out a boot solution. http://texaslocost.homestead.com/Remoteshifter.html

I need pics. I'll do some more googling tonight. Still on the way home from the track.

If you got 5 normal track days plus 1 3-4 hour track day out of a set of sticky 200tw tires, I don't think you really have anything to complain about.

I get more even wear out of my 205 re71r with -3.5 camber in the front, good pyrometer spreads. Not sure if more camber would help tire wear for you, but I thought I'd mention it.

I have inside tire wear from camber. Only have a pyrometer when I borrow one.

I think I figured out the seal. The shift rod only rotates. So I'll just drill a hole in the freeze plug for it to go through rather than trying to find something else to go into that hole. And it only has to seal out splashing so a felt seal will be fine. And by felt seal I mean literally a piece of felt glued around the hole with hondabond.
