What do those bolts do anyways? I took them out following the enthusiast book the first time I did a timing belt and it seems like all they did was fill some holes.

They hold the pulley on.....

SPM damper is press on, so bolts aren't needed.

I guess mine were always rust welded together. Never had the pulley come apart there when taking it off.

You can pull the pulley off by just taking those 4 bolts out.
