Not bad. Tempting. I need to do more battery reading. I have teh dumbs when it comes to them.

Idk why there isn't an easy DIY lifepo battery solution. Everybody just buys the ready to go kits or doesn't explain **** well.

I don't care too much about a light battery, it's weight in a good spot as far as I'm concerned.

I wish I had a proper sealed or ventable battery though, not enough to do anything about it.

Super capacitors aren't all that expensive and ought to charge pretty fast off a lipo. If so, then you don't even need expensive high drain lipo cells or balancing circuits. If you had a circuit made to cut lipo voltage off in time, you could even have a "oh ****" flick to start once switch.

You might be able to make the whole setup small enough to shove in the cowl, then ditch all the wiring running under the car.

I want to do something like that, at some point.

I don't remember what model it is, but I got a huge battery with a good warranty at Oreilly that is vented.

I can look if you're actually interested.

@deezums, not aidan. lol

All good ideas. All things I don't have time for. I need to do some more reading about lifepo, i thought they might have been better at not catching on fire.

I had to start the racecar last week in sub 40° weather and the clutch doesnt fully disengage on that car. Started easier than the bone stock 97 with a brand new stock sized battery with this bad boy on it ZIPPY Flightmax 8400mAh 4S2P 30C LiFePo4 Pack

One of my friends was dailying his civic with this and left his lights on, puffed up and broke the shrinkwrap after he pop started the car and drove home. Toasted.

Was the bumpstarting what made it puff up? I've been meaning to just put the lights on a switched relay. They're already on a relay, just need to connect it to a switched source.

The recharging with the alternator from dead made it puff up. A proper charger probably would have refused to even attempt to charger it until the cell voltages were higher to prevent bursting.

I was using that same battery. Started the car like a boss. I had a cheap balance board plugged in at the same time too to help manage the voltages between groups of cells. In the end, 2 of the 4 banks died anyway. I just went back to my regular battery for now.

Cranked my AE cold multiplier to max (250) and my throttle on cold starts got wayyyy better. I need to add some MAP enrichment because it still wants to die when i let out the clutch with no throttle.

Also got all my wiring and circuitry for the TinyIOx figured out and planned out, hoping to do that next week after I finish lifting my truck a bit more.

Waiting on a full quote for all my fuel system parts and my abs parts before I can put everything together. So I may just be working on exhaust and clutch on my time off.

Just got word that my ABS **** shipped already, woo. Need to figure out all the lines though, don't think monk sent those. Guess I need to buy a roll of line and do some flaring and ****.

Anyone know if I can just reroute the stock rear line over to the ABS pump?

Turns out all the lines are there except the long one to the back. I can work with that.

@codrus do you have a diagram of the abs line routing? And where do you get all your diagrams from, I need that book you always send me pictures of.

My AE cold multiplier is only 130% and I haven't had terrible problems w/ cold starts. Of course "cold" has only been about 35* on some mornings but I wouldn't expect to have to go all the way to 250%!

Interesting. Mine was like 110, and I just went all the way to 250. Maybe I'll back it down at some point.

Oh and I also have a spare oil warmer from the rod knock engine I got. How should I flush the bitch before I throw it on my 1.6.

I dont even have a balance board on mine. I'm going to throw it on the balance charger this winter so its good to go for next year though.
