Supertech says not to run them. So something got screwed up with the distribution somewhere.

I'm pretty sick of this ****.

That was kinda my experience a couple of weeks ago. There's not a whole lot of things in life that are more infuriating than having a timeline that's completely possible and then having someone **** up the part shipment. Seems like it's only when you really really need the part too.

Spoke to supertech. They are selling me new shims and having me return the old ones. Not sure why I'm still paying for their **** up, but whatever. I think I should be able to get them by Friday.

What an incredibly exciting process

Currently at like 2 minutes per thou. Should have a coarse stone coming in tomorrow to help knock more metal off quickly.

I think I still have a shot at starting this weekend if supertech gets me the new shims by Friday.

I have a question on the braided nylon lines. How do get the hose end fitting on the hose after you cut it?

This is what i tried- wrap masking tape tightly around hose where im going to make my cut. I cut the hose with vibrant hose cutters. Perfect cut. I peel the tape off to put the first half of the fitting on, and it pulls all the nylon apart and im left with a tangled mess of frayed nylon

Hmmm. I'm not sure exactly what you mean. The outer bit slides over the hose and you push it all the way in. Then you screw the fitting into the outer bit. If that makes sense lol.

Let me rephrase.

How did you cut it without it fraying like crazy?

I wrap it in electrical tape and then use a thin cutoff wheel to cut through it.

What hose and hose ends are you using? I have had the same issue it sounds like you are having with Summit brand stainless braided line and hose ends, but never with the Summit brand nylon hose and hose ends. Even when the nylon is frayed a bit, it's still easy to get in the lip of the hose end, then just twist as you push it and it pulls all the nylon inside. The trick I used with stainless (that I don't know if it would work with nylon) is use packing tape (or some kind of tape that doesn't stick very well to the hose you're wrapping, but does stick well to itself) and wrap it and cut the hose. Now cut the tape, so that when you take the tape off, it leaves about 1/4" of the tape on the very end of the hose. Now push the hose end on, and hopefully it pushes the tape down the hose as you push the hose end on.

Edit: I cut mine the same way as Aidan, tape and abrasive cutoff wheel

The electrical tape probably just leaves so much residue it sticks itself together....thats the right way to do it right?

Called vibrant. The guy told me it is okay to leave the tape on the hose. Hmmm

Interesting. Never heard of that. I know with the redhorse fittings it would be way too tight of a fit.

Supertech is sending new shims. Covering shipping both ways. Very responsive and helpful. Its a bummer that they got screwed up in the first place, but mistakes happen.

^this. Those suckers are snug. (redhorse fittings)

When I made my oil cooler lines, I used electrical tape then made a cut, then just cut tape around the hose maybe 1/8" back from the end and pull the tape off the end. I'd then start the fitting, and once it was started, I'd take the rest of the tape off.

The guys at the shop use a chisel and BFH to make a clean cut. I like to use an end cutter on the -4 and -6 stuff. need to use something else for the larger diameter. I always remove tape after cutting.

I've used a chisel at times, but I find that a dremel with a small cutting disk works best.
