very high fequency signals. to over simplify it, the higher the frequency, the harder it is to capture and measure acuurately. so looking at very very high frequencies is very very expensive.

applications include:

-cutting edge computer technology development and debugging

-high capacity/bandwidth networks trouble shooting and development, whether it be cell phone towers or intercontinental fiber optics

- as you mentioned, medical and lab equipment

- basically anything electrical that happens really really really really fast, maybe CERN and ATLAS, particle physics, etc.

-other stuff im too lazy to come up with at the moment

Explain it to me like I'm 6. What is the 300k one used for. What needs such precise measurement of the rate/flow of electricity. I can probably think of a couple very narrow applicable fields like MRI machines or Cat-scans but what are they primarily used for that people are buying them in quantities that 300k is "fair".

Another point to make is that Tektronix are by far some of the most expensives scopes you can buy. But also, the best. We get people who are still using scopes from the 90's, call in and ask for updates. Or people like Sean. They just never die.

true, but $300 is also a lot more expensive than $0

and im measuring at most 20khz lol

Digital scopes are significantly more useful than analog ones, IMHO. They've also gotten pretty cheap on the low end -- a Rigol 1052 is a 2-channel 50Mhz DSO and runs $300 brand new. 50Mhz may be low by gigabit ethernet standards, but it's still about 3 orders of magnitude more speed than you'll need to look at any signal in a Miata. --Ian

Now that I have a real job I have way less time to actually do miata things. Tonight I think I'm going to pull the brake pads and cross my fingers that they are tapered. We shall see.

Axle rebuild is put on hold until the next few track days. I will be carrying a spare 1 piece axle to the track just in case something goes wrong.

I need to fix my brakes and maybe try to get an allignment before next friday.

Also install the vent windows.

Well partially hoping they are tapered. If they are it means that throwing money at the problem is the solution. If they aren't then maybe its something else. I wish I could get brake ducting done by the next few track days but I don't think it will. Maybe before the thunderhill day.

Using it for bills. Autopay all bills onto one credit card, then only have one bill a month I'm a very forgetful person.

I graduated college debt free and I'm quite proud of it. Don't plan to get into any.
