What's your power goal? Friend is building a t3 setup for his 95, but he's got the weeny t3... I think he needs a 60 too.

akaryrye 09-28-2008 11:37 AM

Id like to see between 230 and 260, reasonable spool. The Tial should help me keep the boost up i hope with the .48 exhaust.

Where did you find that wastegate for $65? used im guessing on some forums?

akaryrye 09-28-2008 12:57 PM

yup, manifold and wastegate for $315 shipped from twoscoopsofhooah, i was pretty happy with that deal.

Is that 16ga mild for the downpipe? Are you integrating the ewg or staying with dump? stage 1 turbine? it looks larger.

akaryrye 12-31-2008 06:53 PM

that last picture is not the downpipe, it is the Intercooler pipe that goes to the throttle body. Yes it is mild steel from Mandrel Bends and I dont know what gauge. Downpipe will be from the same stuff though and I will most likely integrate, but not until I run it with an external dump a few times to make sure i dont like it.

as far as the turbine wheel goes, I am almost positive it is a stage 1. The seller also told me that it was a stage 1 when I bought it. If i dont like the spool when I get it set up, would you consider trading exhaust housings?

m2cupcar 12-31-2008 08:11 PM

I should have recognized that pipe- it looks just like mine, same tubing.

I would, but I've got a merc housing which will be useless to you w/o fabricating work (and your's for me). Plus I actually picked up a stage 3 turbonetics housing for $15. score.

Banged the shelf back a bit, dont mind the built up dirt and grime :)

Attachment 209217

had to make a bit of clearance by bending this power steering thingie, then i found out it can be rotated and felt dumb

Here she lies, in all her beauty, but alas, no plumbing in sight

Here is what I have to work with

Attachment 209220

First tacks ... doh! I had the wrong angle. After this, I closed up shop for the night. Next time Ill bang/grind those welds off and try again.

That ewg is just screaming to be dumped back into the dp isn't it? Nice how that mani gives lots of room to work with the exhaust. Tell me you still have to clock the compressor housing. ;)

akaryrye 01-08-2009 11:11 AM

yeah the compressor is just loose at the moment.

zoomin 01-17-2009 04:50 AM

Are you going to be using an oil line restrictor?

Ok, witnter term is over and i had some time to work on the project finally this weekend. I finished building the downpipe and I finished welding/grinding the intercooler pipes that were tacked. I was going to hire the final welding out, but when I was quoted $100 for the whole thing i cringed and decided to do it myself ... well most of it at least. I am going to have the guy weld the parts that connect to the flange because that shit is tough to weld with my lack of skills and flux core. Well enough talk for now, here are my pictures. I am quite pleased with my work.

This, my friends, is a $100 downpipe:

Scavenged the flange from the DSM Blow off valve pipe and welded it to my Intercooler tubes:

And Finally, I rerouted the lower coolant hose using the stock hard tube and one new hose from autozone. I did this when I realized that stripes pipes do not work on the hotside either and busted out a new route for the pipes with a 90* silicone hose, and parts from the stripes kit. I ended up using about half of the piping so thats a good thing.

Peace :)

No flex section in the ewg pipe? easy enough to add if you wanted it.

cjernigan 02-15-2009 11:31 AM

I don't have a flex section in my EWG pipe right now. It's been good thus far and I used all stainless. If you can get one cheap enough I'd add it now for peace of mind.

akaryrye 02-15-2009 12:36 PM

Well, i am pretty close to finishing up now, just need to figure out what to do with the EGR, tap the oil pan, and get an air filter setup. Any suggestions
