Hello again,

My car details:

Month/Year: 04/1993

Mileage: 130.00

I bought this car in 2007 being my first paid car. The car basically was my school in terms of driving. I have done countless track days with it, dozens of miles on Mountain Roads and I may be a piece of shit, but itīs my car. I tried to sell it a couple years ago to buy a S2000 but then realized the running costs were way out of my league.

The car is a 1.6 soon to be BP4W and I have already bought a Begi S3 kit (2560) with 2.5” exhaust. Also have a 1.8 Differential with a Kazz Lsd on it. Just need to buy a Reverent MS and a good clutch (949Racing) to starT assembling the parts.

Regarding mods at the moment from top of my head:

- Font R package Lip
- Rear R package Lip
- Carbon Fiber Hart top with lexan Window
- 949 Racing 11" BBK with Hawk DTC 60
- 1.8 Rear Brakes with Carbotech XP 10
- Ate Super Blue Brake Fluid
- Polyurethane Bushings
- Racing Beat Hollow Front Sway Bar
- Good Win Racing Sway Reinforce Plates
- RollBar Harddog Ace
- Gaz Gold Coilovers (450/300) with Nb Topmounts
- Frame Rails
- 1.8 Inferior Braces
- Seam Weld
- Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
- 60mm Radiator
- Coolant Re-Route

And due to installing:

- Begi S3 Kit with Larger Intercooler
- Inconel Studs and Stage 8 Hardware
- 949 Racing Clutch
- 2.5" Exhaust
- 1.8 Diferential With Kazz Lsd (No money for a OS for the moment)
- 440cc injectores
- Reverant MS2 Enhaced

And for sure some other stuff that I donīt remember in top of my head.
Some pictures.

Love the car. Seems like a great start. How are the Lotus seats on longer mountain drives?
Props!

Looks like a sweet little car, and will be much sweeter when you get that 1.8 and trubo in it. Looks like fun!

Not bad at all to be honest. It depends really as there are several different versions of the seats:

- Elise S1 (1996-2000)
- Elise S2 (2000-2003)
- Elise S2 later seats (2003-on)

Mine are the S2 version (00/03) and have far more padding that the firs ones. To be honest the S1 seats I can tolerate them. The S2 are ok. Far more lumbar support that the stock ones and I find them more comfy on smooth roads.

Hello guys,

A couple of days ago i got motivated so put my BP4W in the engine stand so I could change my timing belt / Crankshaft seal/ cam seals and the lot to start my swap. To me disbelief the engine did not rotate, I bought the engine 6 months ago from a reputable seller (apparently…) and I was dumb enough no to check and did trust his word.

Well, now I have an engine that does not rotate any way, 1mm or 100 microns. I have removed the intake manifold, the injectors, the valve cover and everything is fine. I relieved the belt tensioner and removed the timing belt from the camshafts, they rotate smoothly and frrely. So I suspecte the problem is in the bottom end. Yesterday I removed the oil pan in order to remove the oil pump and everything seems in great shape, I have inserted some thin engine oil through the plug hole trying to fool my self-thinking the engine rings are “seized” for it being a long time still standing.

What is your opinion? Let the oil stay there a couple more days or starting dissembling the engine because there is no way the rings could seize like that. I have already user a big lever on the crank bolt to try to rotate, and no success.

:vash:

so...what was wrong with the motor?

curly 05-18-2014 12:12 PM

Is that your ramp to get the car up and down? That's insane. Awesome.

Ok, I will get flamed for this, but fuc* it. As you all know the engine did not turn, i thought that maybe the rings were stuck, a damaged bearing locking the crank, i donīt know, i was going nuts. I started dissembling the engine, the oil pump/oil pan and the lot...and then a noticed that one of the flywheel bolts (the engine did not came with flywheel) was tightened beyond the normal and bolt passed through the strip and locked itself in the rear off the engine block/casing.

I feel dumb, :vash:

At least i gave everything a check (Bearings) and all is good. So, new seals everywhere and gaskets and call it a day

Well, things donīt always go as plan no matter how much you try to.

I had the Gearbox removed more than 3 times due to problems with my clutch. It seems that somehow the clutch cover was not torqued properly. Donīt know how could that happen since it was torqued with Mazda Values and in the correct order. Well, it could be worse I guess. I will get a new pressure plate since this is “warped”.

Since I have the gearbox out I decided it would be the perfect time to insulate the transmission tunel so I would avoid burning inside my car. Temperatures over here can get pretty hot (40šC) and my car does not have A.C. So all the heat I can get to not enter the cabin is welcome.

When I looked at the transmission tunnel I found this:

After cleaning it started to came along nicely.

After about an hour or so, this was the result.

Tomorrow I will take care of that rust sport and start installing the insulation with this stuff

Well, last week I started driving the car. Does not lose any oil or water, no exhaust leaks , and it even started at first time!! I am amazed!

So I have been tweaking the map a little bit with Ve analyzer using my afr target and all seems great. During the weekend will install the variable tps and double check all the clamps and hoses on the car to make sure everything is tight.

In the end, I can only assume that making everything on my own with a help of some good friends, with lotīs off patient resulted. And off course, I canīt say how many times I didn’t know something and just came in here filled the “search” camp and bamm, got the answer for my question. Amazing.

So, I must thank you all for the massive knowledge source that is Miata Turbo. Now, I just hope to fine tune the car, and enjoy.

I guess I am wining in life :loser:
