That's an accurate comment lol. Brad is being a little dick.

And I already have 2 motors with dead bottom ends! haha

A little while back I got in on Yossi's engine group buy and bought a bp6d. It's supposed to be coming next week or so, so wish me luck on the 5th engine this car has had since I bought it. So far it's had 2 B6s, a bp4w, a bp5a, and now a bp6d. I bought seals and gaskets for the third time in the last year, and I'm really hoping to have Brad back alive. Yossi was pretty convinced that I wouldn't have any problems with the engine, so fingers crossed!

You are quite skilled in killing a good motor though...

Seriously though i hope there are no issues this time

This showed up early. Now I've just got to get it home and get it installed

I started tearing it down tonight for wp/tb/reroute/seals and it feels a little notchy turning it over by hand. Yossi was pretty convinced I wouldn't have any problems with it, so I'm hoping it's just my imagination. I just want a running engine :/ I'm tired of this game.

Engine is most the way back together. Decided against doing all the seals this time. Going to do rear main, but left front/cam seals in. Maybe if I put less effort into it, it'll give me better luck? I don't know. Threw my new timing belt/wp on this engine, put the reroute on, and called it as far as maintenance. If the engine runs and leaks some oil, it leaks some oil. Need to pull the engine off the stand and put the clutch/fw on. I'm hoping to get it in in the next week or so.

How did I miss that? Hahaha

Engine #5 is inside the engine bay. Nothing is really hooked up other than that yet. Dumped oil all over the valvetrain and filled it/changed filter. It's rainy for the next couple of days and then I'm going to hopefully get the engine fired this week. I've got some other stuff I need to get done on the car like relocate/mount the prop valve. Hoping to have it driving with a couple weeks? I'm mainly just trying to get it running so I can see if it's good or not.

How is it going?

Hopefully a bit delay doesn't mean it **** the bed once again?

Work on Brad has been rather slow. I actually wrote an update a couple of weeks back before I went to bed and then MT decided to delete it so I said **** it.

I did get the engine to run, but it was missing on at least one cylinder, so it's hard to tell. Pretty sure it's due to the ignition system. I've been really busy with the e46 LD car and trying to get my ls3 car running together before a trackday in late June. I'm hoping to get some more work done on the car by then though.

I've also kicked around the idea of throwing on the bp5a head. But I'd rather run vvt if I can, I wish that I had verified the ms3x was working properly before the 1.6 died :( Would have made all this a lot easier since I'm still trying to run everything on the stock ecu. At least until I verify the engine is good and then I'll start messing with the MS.

I've pretty much ignored this car for 6 months while I did other stuff. So I decided to say "**** it" on getting the car to start/halfway run on the stock ecu this week. ****'s pointless and I'm just gonna have to try to do the MS while getting the car running. Yesterday I worked on the car a bit and getting it converted over for running on the ms3x. I've verified that I have fuel pressure when I key on, so that's a step in the right direction I suppose.

I ordered nb2 coils off ebay, and hopefully they'll get here soonish. Feels good to be working on Brad again, I'm hoping to be able to test to see if the injectors are firing by the end of the week and then all I'm missing is spark

Worked on the car some more this weekend. Almost all the wiring for the swap is done. I just need to wire the two new injector wires into the ms and the hook up the vvt. I got all new connectors/terminals for the tps, iac, vvt, coils, and cam/crank sensors, all those are done now. I don't really have an eta for firing it, there's not much work left but I'm jumping from project to project a lot lately which slows everything down.

Brad as it currently sits. Still lots of work to do. Looks like the tps/iac weren't re-done yet in this photo, but you get the idea.

And because this thread has a severe lack of cats. This is Clyde, he was helping me do the wiring by sitting on my shoulder.

I think the last couple pieces I need to start the car come in tonight. I've got to do a bit of cleaning around both the house and the shop today/tomorrow so I probably won't work on Brad until Wednesday. But I'm also alone this weekend, so I'm hoping to have Brad firing this weekend. Spent a bit of time last week going back through the ms3x and I feel a bit more confident in it actually working now. I did find a small error in one part, so that was good.

Just over here streaming thoughts, nothing actually exciting going on yet

So my girlfriend stole Brad's axles/uprights while we were trying to diagnose a bearing noise on her car and we still haven't put them back because we couldn't get the axles out of her hubs since they were stuck like all other miatas. Since we need to get her bearings done before Brad gets his axles back, I went to the store last night and picked up this shop rocket that HF makes. After using it, I would probably recommend the 5 ton one because honestly, it's a bit too big for miata stuff without rigging things up a little janky. But, this thing doesn't **** around and I would highly recommend it. I got both axles out within about 30 mins. For reference, I've been off and on trying to get the other ones out for about 2 months with absolutely no luck.
