https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3d77dd4cf.jpeg Got some tabs for the exit duct. A spring on both sides hold it down the the radiator. Easy removal if needed! https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...0634e7a36.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1fb6209ea.jpeg Front fender liners modified and installed. Have another door to hang and start the alignment tonight. I got tge car running with the gearbox and it’s pretty damn cool! |

When are you going to shake it out? Did you happen to test today? |
Did a couple outs and ins. Car feels solid. Ended up getting a puncture in the LF on the out lap that I was going to try and do 5 laps. Have a a few issues to resolve with some sensor calibrations. Probably going to try and get up to Thunderhill this week and run the 2 mile. |
Epic build! I have been following you on IG. I can't wait to see it around the local tracks.
|
Nice build. Subscribed. Looking forward to track videos.

Tested at Thunderhill today and well it had highs and lows. Back to the drawing board on a few items.
This was the first flying lap after added 4 clicks of low speed and high speed compression. Started the day full open on all the dampers (HSC, LSC, REB) I went home after this with a broken turbo manifold and some diff mount issues. 1:19.6 I believe there is a really low 18 to a high 17 in this car... |
Did you see the shorty PPF diff mount that the "TX Track NC" guy just made? Look him up on Facebook. Looks like a much stronger design to me.
|
Yea Jenson and I talk a lot about our cars. He broke his within the first session. I like his design tho. I’m going to beef mine up today. So far after the shake down I have fixed the exhaust. Still just a patch but also added a turbo stay bracket. Not many people would think it’s cool but I do. The clevis bracket is from a alternator tensioner from a Mclaren gearbox. Love the trash can some times. :) https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...7cdf570af.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e1e5f58ee.jpeg |

What was that breakup on the 2-3 shift in the opening secs of the video??
On a side note here at the Runoffs taking a stab at the T1 title. Yesterday’s qual was not what I would consider great by any means, but if you consider my very last minute attempt to get this car ready it’s good. Ended up p2 in class then pulled the head off to change a head gasket. Still not enough tuning on the suspension so the car is “fast” but not great and fast. May skip q2 and get the engine ready and do some setup work and go full send. Pics for clicks. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...8d756c5cf.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...70f6d5037.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...753abbb54.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...8ccbbebab.jpeg |
This is lovely! Please do not beat up on them too much. I would still like to get into the red headed step child NC before anyone else tries to scoop and build them :)
Any massaging of the head?? |
Be sure to tell your fellow competitors how the "SCCA Runoffs" are just a shakedown event for your new setup. I am sure there's a few broken hearts seeing a Miata P2.
Best of luck out there Charlie! I'll be there at the race rooting for ya!. |

Best of luck out there Charlie! I'll be there at the race rooting for ya!. I don't have the pace needed for qual. Got bumped down to 5th today by not running. Today was extremely optimal conditions in the mid to low 70*s with no wind. I think my car has a mid 42 in its current trim with some setup work. I think I am giving up a lot with the aero department. Hoping the race is more in my zone and we will see what happens. The big cars are going to be hard on the tires. Andrew in the vette has no help besides his steam roller size hoosiers. |
I am following the runoffs and noticed an NC in T1 and just had to find the build thread. Ive seen other NA/NBs run in T1 but never an NC, so needless to say this thread did not disappoint!
What is the race weight on the car? Listed at 2400lbs +4% for sequential +100lbs for aftermarket ABS +3% for head porting? (or do you only have a 1" port match?) So 2675lbs? so you probably have 200+lbs of balast? Such an awesome build! Sonoma is the "right" track for the lighter weight cars in T1, i hope you can get back out there today and put in a good flier and then keep it together for 20 laps during the race! |
I hate that we couldn’t be out there with our T1 Miata. Just couldn’t make the long haul out there. |
Sorry bud :(

Not a great week for me. Car is still in one piece and the engine doesn't have a hole in it. We will make it good.
Kind of bummed I did not get to try the hail mary setup today. Went up on camber by a lot all around, 30% stiffer front springs, 35% stiffer rear springs, raised the wing 6in, ARB changes, and damper changes. Anyway here is the fast lap from the week. Still a lot left with me and the car. Here are some photos from Chris Robbins on the grid. We were starting P4 with all the big dogs... https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...00bc9c1493.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...74ff282cb0.jpg |
Saw the smoke at the start of the race, and saw you had to retire early.
Still you did an awesome job of getting the car built and towards the pointy end of some of the best cars in class. If anything, this should validate your build and shows that it is worthy of further development! |

If you add 7% to the base weight then the 100 lbs you get 2668lbs. The car has close to 275lbs in it by now. Made for a 50.5% front weight at the end of the day. I have sent a letter on clarifying that part. |
