Progress has slowed down drastically, currently I am dealing with oil leaks coming from my oil pan possibly and the oil pickup tube ( where it connects to the block ) that one is particularly nasty as anytime my car is warm and I get into boost it will immediately start smoking from hitting the dp heat.

Plan at the moment is to tackle the leaks, I am hoping once I replace the oil pickup tube o ring that oil will stop leaking, if not i will be pulling the motor again.

Weather has not been on my side lately at all aswell - To aid me in my goal I plan on getting a portable garage to continue through the winter

I cant get my eyes off the TSE kit .. i would love to go with an efr 6758 and shoot for 400hp+ but the tranny solutions seem to still be in the works...

I'll know if i want to go that route soon after i can get some mileage into this build. More updates to come as I proceed with life..

You mean the pickup tube that is inside the oil pan?

Tranny solutions will always be in the works. Someone will always come up with a better one.

Nope not the pickup tube ( my bad, so many parts) i did replace that part already with the oem mazda gasket.

The oil dipstick tube is where my problem is, at the very bottom of it - it puddles and splashes all over my downpipe - I actually went back to some of the photos i took in this thread and now i understand why my downpipe had some discoloration

The tranny solution is really the only thing holding me back - I'll know more once i can actually start enjoying this build a bit more.

Honestly if you are not tracking it, then the transmission thing is not a huge problem. Put in a 6 speed, then keep one on hand. When you kill yours, swap in the spare.

I was planning on doing this, but with the 5 speed spare i have lol -

Not my day so far.. Replaced the O-ring... it is still leaking.. FML -

Also ....
RIP turbo

I got about one or two good rips - then i started to hear some metal on metal contact and no boost.. I'm guessing it was already damaged from being in my old engine - when i originally put it in it did not have this much play on it - it has play both in and out and up and down.

Looks like im going back to the smaller turbo tomorrow 10/30/2016 and I'll give the o-ring another shot after i go to HF and buy an o ring kit.

Got the smaller turbo installed.. super fun...except for this part....

I have replaced the o-ring for the dipstick tube about 4 times today, i had an oem replacement and didnt have luck with it. and the replacement ones aren't fitting correctly which im thinking may be because of the material...hnrb

it still leaks and my head is killing me from consuming oil all day that burns into the cabin from the shifter ****

I have been cursed

I have replaced the o ring over 10 times.. i think i finally got it and went for a drive..

And my car broke down and had to get it towed home.

It is struggling to start, when it does it runs like dogshit and turns off.. Thinking timing may be off again..

This car knows how to steal my motivation from my soul

Some pics of my troubles ... i am having a crap week. and this o ring has ruined everything.

The o-ring I got from the Mazda dealer looked considerably bigger (thickness) than this one. And of course I lubed it up real good before I shoved it in there.

And my o-ring isn't green....

Sorry about all your trials and tribulations with this car. It will get better- I promise!

it also looks different than the one off my VVT and 1.6 motors. mine is thicker and would be a real challenge for it to pop out like that.

Maybe im a little confused, but Id be asking why oil is blowing out of there so hard. Even with no o-ring, I would think that you would only get a slight weep, it looks like someone used a garden hose. Are you pressurizing the crank more than "normal"?

Do you have a check valve on the PCV hose?

I do feel like he is having some other oiling type issue. He has killed 2 turbos so far. He is the only one of my customers who has managed that.

The o ring that i got from the mazda dealer was about the same size and still leaked.

The green rings you are seeing are from harbor freight - labeled as HNBR The size i have been trying is ID 3/8 - OD 1/2 - Sec 1/16

I also went and picked up some nitrile o rings after i ran out of that size even tried a little rtv, stacking them and still a no go.

I'm sure at this point i just need to get the thickest tightest fit o-ring i have..

I really am just hoping that nothing severe happened to my engine when it died, I will find out soon hopefully, need another compression tester as i seem to have misplaced mine.

Seriously... you're right on.. I'm almost hoping its not an issue with my bottom end?

I dont know how i would be pressurizing the crank more than normal honestly. Car only has PS

Do a compression test and leak down test. Also check if your PCV valve is in good shape or replace it.
It feels like you are pressuring the crack case, either due to blown rings, head gasket failure or bad PCV system.

Cylinder 1 = 60 PSI (this read 0 psi at first) and i came back to it
Cylinder 2 = 70 PSI
Cylinder 3 = 115? PSI
Cylinder 4 = 120 PSI

Guessing these results mean head gasket...?

Complementary pics
Spark plugs

Cylinder 1

Cylinder 2

Cylinder 3

Cylinder 4

Pixel takes awesome photos.

wet Compression Test results

Cylinder 1 = 125
Cylinder 2 = 80 PSI
Cylinder 3 = 120
Cylinder 4 = 120

I rolled the dice on the head gasket.. it was called evergreen, seemed like a Chinese forgery

Seems likely it could be my piston rings in cylinder 1 and 2 from the wet test.. but i guess i wont know till I'm in there...
Im hoping its headgasket.
