Shitty about the engine though. I would have thought they'd try to at least compression test them before shipping overseas.

You're going to need a spare anyway. :D

I've noticed that having spare engines and transmissions on a stand is the key to longevity on track. It's all about Karma, Murphy and luck.

I asked them if they would/could, and they said they don't, they only guarantee that it runs good in a car with no major issues. I'm sure this engine would run just fine in a street car, it's just not what I want to put in my racecar. I took the risk and accept that, no complaints about UK Miata Parts. Their price was low enough that even for a known healthy core I paid a fair price, just no longer the screaming deal I hoped it would turn out to be.

Such is life! Overall not a big deal.

Some progress happening, Renderos getting the cage finished up. I believe I'll have the car in-hand and can start piecing bits together within a month or so, though I won't have the funds to do the main build til sometime next year.

Always a bit of a hassle to load a tub onto a trailer, but we got it done. Still going to be a while but I'm collecting bits as I find good deals. Still shooting for end of 2020 for track debut, but maybe it'll happen sooner.

Somewhat exciting... will be more exciting when it has, like, an engine and stuff.

Oh, and the TDI was a total beast. Towed it like nothing. I did find out that it will do rolling burnouts in 2nd and 3rd gear when trying to get up to speed, though. :bigtu:

People forget that in Europe they don't have much of a pick-up truck market. In my limited trips to Germany and Denmark I saw a lot of cars towing trailers that would scare Americans. My favorite was in Denmark. Saw a drag Tri-five Chevy on a trailer. That's cool to see in Denmark. Then as we get closer I see its being pulled by another Tri-Five.
