So I was tearing into starting to install parts, got the header off and saw..I have no oil ports on the block but my car is a 1994, so the block (at least) isn't original. Weird. And I have a useless fitting now. What block do I have? Not that it makes a difference.

I'm having bad thoughts of pulling the engine to put my clutch on. This leads to the obvious question, should I build that block? I need help understanding the implications of this endeavor.

I want to run 20psi on my 6258. Make ~300whp as a 100% street car.

1.) I very much want to get my hands dirty, clean up the engine bay and delete all the annoying wiring and random crap. EGR, clean up my power steering delete, ect.
2.) I've never rebuilt an engine, but do have a friend that runs a BMW/class speciality shop and can do all my machining and answer the general rebuild issues.
3.) What am I looking at for those that have done this? Pulling the engine and transmission. Finding a 6speed. Rods/pistons/oil pump/damper + general rebuild. Stock 99/00 head if I can find one for cheap and local, if not, just my stock, poop-filled 94 head.
5.) Suggested parts for a budget build? Balanced ebay forged rods, supertech 8.6 +1mm pistons, weisco rings, boundary pump, ATI damper.

Or am I crazy? Just put the damn clutch in and boost around in low boost. Eventually will build it. I've had like 10 cars and I don't plan on moving on from this project any time soon, and building an engine will be fun to me. That's the **** I like doing.

I need to ship my manifold/dp to Abe to get my exhaust made up, what's the best way to do it? I was thinking USPS, wrap it in bubble wrap and slap the sticker on there?

The budgetest of builds would be a rods only build, but you might be testing your luck with that at 300 as that's the supposed high end for that setup.

eBay rods with arp studs should be about 300 all said and done plus parts for the head refresh.

Re shipping. Put it in a box too ya bum!

Does anybody know if I need 2.25" coilover springs to fit a 15x10 +25?

You gotta post a dyno when you get it. Those EFR turbos look sweet.

Depends on your camber.

15x10s are gonna need flares on an NA too probably.

I'm trying to avoid flares at all costs..just not a fan of the look. I guess I am stuck with 3* to even get close to getting them under a stock fender and I'd need Xida style coilovers. Orrr, flares. And I am not ready for that commitment lol.

Know if I can get away with a 15x9 and 245? Not ideal but will still be fun and the cost between 225 and 245 on a RS4 is negligible.

I will definitely get some info up. I lacked trying to find info of them on stock blocks. Plan is 5-6psi, get all the bugs worked out, have a professional tune the power in to around 200wtq, hope the block survives and then Xidas/Wheels/Tires. Then comes the bigger power. DO things once, do them right. (Within my college budget)

I never really touched it when I bought it. I went to change out the wastegate actuator to the low boost one and noticed the wheel didn't spin, took it apart and the wheel practically fell off.

Used, off of here. This was apart of the gamble I presume.
