Put 500 miles on and oil level hasn't changed. Still too early to tell but it looking promising.

Beat on the car pretty good yesterday. Went up and back on highway 33. Had a 3 series behind me on the way down which was fun.

In others news. Just place an order for a CAN wideband controller from MS Labs.

Also trying to figure out knock settings. Was logging for a while on the drive yesterday and noticed some noise from from about 4k to redline (7200). Think is just noise, trying to get rid of it. Put in some numbers I found in another thread (think Y8 posted it). We'll see how that works.

Think I managed to melt a cat. Car has slowly been losing power. AFRs keep getting farther off and when I retune, it just happens again. Now I can hardly get up to freeway speeds without getting run over. Pulling the forward Cali cat today to confirm suspicions. Hopefully I just ruined the forward cat and not the second one. I have a feeling that I'm going to find the first one has plugged the second.

Ouch, that's the expensive one. If the second cat is still good you can add an O2 sensor bung after the second cat and do some creative wiring to pass smog, but its one of those things that will get you in trouble if you get caught.

Check your ignition system, that's usually why that front cat will self destruct. Sorry mang :(

remove cat
replace with turbo
???????
instant win

He's in SoCal Bruh

I blame stock coils and lack of tuning skill. Have run seriously rich a few times and even managed to tune in a misfire here and there. But hey I've leaned a few things And am back on track.

No funds for turbo. Still need to get the charger back on. Header will go on today. Probably could have saved myself a little money had I put it on a couple of months ago. Doh!

I feel these pains. This is why I bought a NB2 manifold, so I could save the precat for when I absolutely needed it.

Suspicions confirmed. The first kitty clogged the second.

prepare for the ugliest sound known to man to be emitted from your exhaust system now lol

Do NOT breathe that shit.

Is that the inlet side on the second cat? It *might* still be OK if there is no physical destruction of the core. I've seen residue like that on cats that still passed smog.

williams805 05-11-2015 11:58 PM

The second cat was packed full of really fine shit from precat. Had to let them both go. Will replace the second one soon enough.

Yes that is the second cat. No Bueno.

Muffler is petty quite. Hopefully won't be too bad. If it is, it will motivate me to replace it faster.

williams805 05-12-2015 01:35 AM

You are correct... Horrible raspy sounds. Also pops on decel.

Good news is, car feels great.

williams805 05-13-2015 09:10 PM

Just lost clutch hydraulics. It's been a hard couple of weeks.

EO2K 05-13-2015 09:23 PM

Yikes, sorry man. But hey at least its a relatively cheap/easy fix?

williams805 05-17-2015 11:28 PM

Has anyone found a connector that will plug into the stock IAT? Would like simply plug the GM sensor in.
If not I'll just splice it in just tape off the original. I thought I found a thread a while back where someone found a plug n play solution but I can't find it now.

18psi 05-17-2015 11:30 PM

I made a plug-n-play solution by hacking up a spare ait sensor. Not sure if that's what you're talking about. its in my build thread
sold to nigelt

Okay, cool. Thought I remembered something like that.

williams805 05-20-2015 10:17 PM

Having a little trouble with wiring in the CAN wideband module from MS Labs.

What are the twisted white and black wires from the CAN module? CAN high and low? Which is which?

What do I wire into on the MS3? The instructions with MS3 say pin 8 and 9. But they are not twisted.

Red and black wires? Power and ground? Is there a specific power and ground on the MS3 to hook to?

williams805 05-20-2015 10:23 PM

Okay found this...

Done.

So now my question is, since I already have the the LC2 hooked to pin 1, should I still use it for the CAN module? In other words, is it okay/ideal to have both wide band and CAN module hooked to the same power?
