Top hats are going to require a few hours of work to get them to work well. Going to have to strip the paint off then go over the existing welds with a tig, no rod in an effort to smooth them out and push through for penetration. If i'm right, this should take care of my problems AND make them much stronger.

Got a care package yesterday to help finish my interior finally.

Glove box, NA6 door pads for my custom panels, a/c delete interior things. So excite.

Ah ok. Yeah they're pretty nice on the front face. Pretty messed up on the back face but i'm not super worried about it.

Mid-july, no real rush. We need to have a drinking/grilling/wrenching day soon. The hardest part about the panels will be getting the tweeters to work with them.

I think i have a router, too. That might be easier?

yeah router works great, so does the small drill bit looking thing on a dremel. With either of those choices speed control is critical to avoid melting. The nibblers can sometimes leave really bent and shitty edges.

Thanks for the feedback on that Leafy. I just replaced the blades so they should be pretty sharp. I have a router with table and a dremel as well.
I should be free next weekend. Will bring beer and bratwurst.

Mixed results for this weekend's wrenching.

Seats: Fail.
FrankB tanks: Mixed. Coolant overflow was cake, washer reservoir, need to revisit. Instructions are from an MSM, which had ABS. My car does not have this, oem tank in a different place, need to extend some wires. No big deal, just didn't feel like doing it on Saturday.
Miataroadster shifter: Win. After i disassembled it again after i realized i forgot to fill the transmission.

Ordered today: Radiator, timing belt kit, valve cover gasket, Trackspeed EGR and coolant neck blockoffs ($10.53 shipped da fuq?), and EGR plug for header.

Gonna be a lot of work to get this thing done in time for MATG, but very doable. I remain optimistic.

The only reason I have kept my slow 01 is because of that. It is truly pleasureable to drive around with such a great shifter.
