OK. So the guys from Hanchey started up again. Good to know. As it happens, a good friend of mine just had them build a set of coilovers for his S2000, based on Tracktive shocks. I had not put it together until just now. Makes sense.
On the idea of the alignment, much the same, just found a local PepBoys, talked to the front store tech saying I wanted some particular numebrs and he said to talk to the guy that was doing it. Walked out back, turns out he is into tracking his 350z and we became friends. Now he has done all 4 of my miatas and is super chill about any requests I have about the car. Kind of just about knowing and meeting the right people. Harder for people like me that like to keep to themselves, but can help.
Mounting to the undertray presents exactly the correct angle for something or other. I wonder how much positive pressure there is in that location. FM and Mishimoto seem to think there is enough to support an oil cooler. Enough for stealth brake duct inlets?

I have butcher's twine, gaffer's tape, and a GoPro. And, there is a helpfully located useless access panel there. We shall see what happens this weekend...

Have you been out to Cresson before? If so, who do you run with? What car do you drive now? I am out there upwards of 18 times per year with Apex Driving Academy and SCCA TNiA, and I drive a black RX-8. I'm willing to bet we have crossed paths. If not, we definitely should.
I've only taken this Miata to the track twice, and even though it's sloooooooooow, I'm already hooked. I'll start shopping for the next one soon. This one will be kept nice. No holds are barred with the next one.

It's a long boring video with no overlay or lap times displayed, so don't get too excited.
At about 11:00, I have chased down a Lexus ISF. He refuses to let me pass for about 10 minutes. I am clearly out-cornering him in every turn, but he can easily walk away from me on the straights. All I need to do with a guy like that, is stay with him enough on the straights to convince him I really am faster than he is. I'll eventually need a low boost, fast spooling turbo to accomplish that.
On the bright side, the goofball runs out of gas at 19:40. Probably one of those who splashes in a couple of gallons at a time for HPDE.
[What may not be clear in the video is how much I am lifting and braking to stay off of him in the corners. He is constantly killing my momentum, which makes my slowness in the straights worse.]
Unfortunately, this happens more than it should. This was the advanced run group, and that guy really had no business being in it. Somehow, he talked his way up to advanced and made problems for more experienced drivers. When I tried to ask him if he saw me in his rearview, he cursed at me in Japanese and made rude hand gestures, before I could even get my mouth open. Alas.
OP when you do decide that it is time for boost, TSE is where you need to shop. I know you have been buying everything from FM, and they are a good company. But TSE and 949 are a bit better when it comes to pioneering track products.
That is why we engineered Xidas, 15x9's, our alignment and suspension setup. Entry speed bruh

LOL! I had as much entry speed as 140 ft-lbs of torque would give me. No passing in the corners at this driving school. He was also squirrely enough, that I might not have tried anyway. No sense in letting him trash my car with his stupidity. I could have pulled into the hot pit to buy some space, but I was trying to teach him that a car that is slow on paper can be a faster car, if it handles well and is driven competently. Total failure there.

I haven't bought everything from FM. Goodwin and 949 have received some love $$$ as well. I will be doing a lot of research before the turbo decisions are made.
Entry speed has nothing to do with power, that is the point. Turbos are fun, just don't assume the gain in lap time per dollar spent will be the same as dollars spent making it turn and stop harder.

The Cliff Notes version of my beer-addled thought process is, that track has several short straights that I can take without braking to slow down or to set the car. Therefore, my entry speed on those corners is determined by my ability to accelerate, which is determined by the HUGE torque I enjoy from my Renesis. What happens at the end of the longer straights is a different equation. In any case, that bozo limited my entry speed almost everywhere by being a slowpoke jackwad. No entry speed, no ability to pass, and no exit speed: the perfect storm to prevent a momentum car from passing. In this particular case, I was already entering turns between 10 and 25mph faster than he was, and braking much later and harder. Bottling me up where I normally excel was the ultimate **** block.
