Its a completely different feeling. My 13, like your 09 is torquey and big. My 04, way less torquey but way more direct and tossable, despite being a wagon.
The miata takes "nimble and tossable" to a whole nother level. Also it was kinda sorta fun driving the car 10/10 and still barely breaking the speed limit

Do you not know how to downshift? I have a 92 with 330k miles on it and I have no problems going up mountain roads in it. Sure if you leave it in 5th gear it will suck *****, drop it down to third and get the rpms up a bit and it is fine.

Not what you would call a healthy engine.
Saying that, after driving a diesel for 4 years, I am/was constantly nervous about revving the Miata's engine too high. Too many years of a 4.5k powerband makes you forget how rev happy/necessary these engines are. Takes a lot of reprogramming the brain cells to not shift too early.

Glad to hear you are at least enjoying the car as-is man. Sometimes I wish that I had saved up and bought an uber clean NB instead of putting all the time and $$ into my ugly na (fwiw i love na's, mines just ugly because of the paint lol). Then I drive it and the *** end steps out rolling onto the throttle in 2nd and everything is okay.
I've also started dailying my na again, and dear god i love miatas.

Nah its staying as is. Period. And I'll keep repeating this to myself every day, cause that's how often I get tempted to mod it again
I briefly tempted myself with the many MSM setups laying around our shop, just slap a complete one on here and tune it on stock injectors, stock clutch, stock exhaust and enjoy like 180whp, but I dont have the ms3 anymore and I really REALLY don't need to start any more projects.
Just finished $20,000 worth of cement and yard work on the house, and already dropped like 6 grand on mods for the '13 wrx.......I need to just stop
*edit:
this crap aint cheap
