I read somewhere that in order to not pay alcoholic beverage taxes, when they sell ethanol it has to have been mixed with something to make it undrinkable. Since it's being sold for fuel purpose, they mix in a few percent of gasoline, making it E96 or something. "E85" is then made by using 85% of the diluted ethanol and 15% of straight gas, so it winds up being 81-ish percent ethanol.

So far I'm extremely happy with the way things are going with this car, I really hope she just keeps on ticking this good for a long time. No down time = happy owner
Between this and the vette, my poor subaru gets NO attention these days

Got the launch control working...well mostly just functioning, still haven't set it up to try to get the car to really launch properly.
Almost done with 1st tank of e85.
Hitting the drag strip again next wednesday: https://www.miataturbo.net/suspensio...2/#post1228059
And scheduled 3 dyno runs on the 23rd on a local Mustang Dyno

Tried out LC a bit more, It blows the tires off in 1st no matter what. I really wanted to try 2nd but just can't get myself to do it with the OEM clutch and it actually still holding up really good. Maybe later.
Tried out Flat Foot Shifting
WOW
I haven't giggled like this in a long time. The car is an animal. I will probably have to lift going into 2nd though, because it spins really hard and fishtails. Rest of the gears are fine.
A supercharged FRS and a new turbo Audi learned valuable lessons tonight
The best part is that both of them were really cocky and smirked at me before attempting to blow my doors off. So much fun

^^ how does that work alongside closed loop boost? Say your target boost map says 14psi at 100% throttle, and your 2nd gear "boost by gear" limit is 11psi, does it just obey the boost by gear maximimum? How about if you are ok with going with 14psi in 4-6th, do you have the boost by gear set higher than your closed loop target? How does it work?

Thanks guys, yeah it's a hoot.
Stephen, I've only used OL boost so far, but from what I understand: timed boost simply reduces the boost duty cycle by whatever you set it to for as long as you set it to.
With boost by gear I think it's kinda redundant, but with normal boost control I think it will be very helpful. It just takes whatever duty cycle it would normally run, and reduce it by what the timed boost table dictates.
I'm gonna try like 10-20% in 1st, and like 50-60% in 2nd. No reduction in 3-6
You'll have to run it really mild on your car. It's violent on mine at a measly 225whp, I can't imagine how nuts it would be on your beast

.....................Ok so I think either my fuel filter is now clogging or my pump is going out.
It started running a little leaner last night when I was testing Launch Control and Flat Foot shifting. I didn't think much of it since it's still really conservative/rich anyway.
This morning the pump was pretty loud, you could HEAR the fluid going through it, like a rushing fluid type of sound, and the car is leaning out a full point in boost. Also seems to run a bit leaner everywhere else too.
Going to try to find a fuel filter to swap tonight, if that doesn't fix it I'll be hitting up Bryan for a DW200

New fuel filter went in today. Also I added more to the VE table just to see if I'm really running out of pump. Seems to have helped, in fact at 1st I overdid it and it dipped to low 11's/high 10's. So now I'm thinking it was just a much more pure batch of e85. It leaned out the same night I put in my 2nd tank of e85. Who knows.
I'm loving it so much I pretty much don't want to touch it anymore. Just drive drive drive
*edit: spoke too soon, still leans out a little bit up top. I guess the difference between day time and warm temps and morning and cold temps make a big difference. DW200 definitely going in asap. Stupid returnless system is so inconsistent, ugh.
Also, It spun all of 2nd gear, at will, this morning. Made me grin like a kid, it's definitely picked up a ton of power over pump gas.

No one has any idea how to properly get one running on megasquirt. Everyone just has theories and opinions. (that I've seen. If I'm wrong I'll only be happy about it)
I'm really thinking that the purer batch is causing all of this. I add fuel, it richens up drastically, so it can't possibly be running out of pump.....or so it seems?
last couple times it did that it was cold out. Right now it's warm out, I have it pretty rich (for e85) and will test again tonight when it's cold.
Keeping it in Open Loop with EGO off so I can see what the AFR swing looks like.
Here in Nor-Cal temps swing WILDLY from day to night. Like 20* or more
Doesn't look like DW is going to come in before track tomorrow, so I'll just watch the AFR like a hawk and keep things conservative.

It just hasn't been well documented. I've seen AbeFM over on MSExtra with it running fine, and I've seen some other builds lately that have too. I just picked up a sensor, so I'll be delving into it also.

It looks to me pretty simple to get running. You just have to tune it. Not sure what you mean properly get one running? I wouldn't trust one batch of E85 to another batch at all even if at the same station!
According to Ben @ DIY, they got it working very well with the new software! Maybe need to bug him about it!
