extremly wet trackday.. 5th gear would spin to 190kph down the back straight..
nooo traction in the corners ended up being more a day to learn how to handle the car in wet conditions, than actually setting decent laptimes.. but it looks cool

video from that very wet trackday.. not really pushing it as i am unfamiliar with this car on that track, and the rain on my first day doesnt help. my friends mk3 mr2 has a 255whp turbo engine, big brakes, R comp tires, cage+++ both of us are just playing around because of the shitty conditions.

there seems to be a strange sound in my car..

ive joined the statistics and broken a 6speed.. 4th gear shattered like glass while rolling on the throttle on the highway.. @2bar boost on the gt3076 so it had some power behind it.

Sucks about the gearbox, but nicely done!

I don't want to join that club at the moment!!

Any updates? Did you go Quaife? Or trying another 6-speed? Love the all that ducting. Gave me some good ideas. Thanks.

strapped in another 6speed.

did a few adjustments to brake bias, boostpressure controlled by TPS value etc and was able to improve my laptimes a bit too.

30psi on a 3076? Nice.

I'm going to need to step up my game. If this is on pump gas (yes, I know there are differences between countries), I would really like to see your spark map.

98 octane(ron i guess) , im down at 13-14degrees at 2 bar boost.
it was an absolute monster at 2 bar boost. not sure what the hp/tq figures would be, but somewhere north of 450whp, and a shitload of torque

What are you limiting the boost to when on the track?

limited to 1.6 bar for all kinds of use after the 6speed broke. that around 400whp,450nm(at wheels).

Thinking of keeping 1.6 bar for 1st-4th gear, and going back to 2 bar for 5th gear which is the highest gear i will be using on the local tracks with short straights. It should juuust about reach the limiter in 5th with a small power increase from 400whp

small update.. car has been running the last few years with no real big issues. between 25-30k km since my last post, engine is untouched and still running 400+ whp street and some track use

Treated the car to xidas, and some other small upgrades and upgrading the interior etc this winter.

heres a small video from some very mild laps on track, it still moves even when im not pushing

Fixing up the car a bit this winter. fixed rust on the rear of the sills. redoing the interior, installing a mini dashlogger etc. Engine will be pretty much the same.
Upgrading the swaybars, and going to 900lb front springs too..

mini dash is a PLEX usdm 102 pro. it will comunicate with my autronic SM4 ecu using rs232, and has 4 additional analog inputs and 2 egt probe inputs, and supports canbus devices, full logging, smart waring screens with selectable warning levels for most channels++ really cool piece of kit that lets me remove all normal gauges, and still have a streetable car with all info easy to read.

Changed my damaged koyo for a supermiata radiator. Made a New mounting plate/shroud for the fans. Made a coolant setup for the wg since it's prepped for that.
Also installing fuel and oil pressure sensors connected to the ecu for failsafes, and a speed sensor for gear dependent boost if i want it.

Just read this thread through... Wow.

Anymore progress to report? I'm looking at going for a GTX3076R myself, what A/R are you running? Looks like a ton of fun!

i runa a .63 exhaust on it. works really well. starts spooling at 1750 rpm, and i get 2 bar boost at just over 4k rpm if i want to..
This summer i have used a bit more of the functions in the autronic sm4 ecu, so i now run boost by gear / rpm / tps + failsafes.
1-4 th gear is 1.6 bar up til 4500 rpm. with a gradual increase to 1.7 bar at 5k and 1.8 bar at 6k. Helps flatten out the torque curve a bit, gives me a noticeble bump in high end power and without making way too much torque in the midrange and just breaking the gearbox every time i floor it.

I am also taking one for the team and trying to run a even higher boost level in 5th gear since that is a direct connection between input and output shaft in the 6speed miata gearbox.
5th gear is now 1.8 bar up to 5k rpm , and then 2 bar boost from 5k up..

its an absurd feeling to have a car that pulls as hard as this, and then have it pull even harder in 5th gear

since i have the wheelspeed sensors installed to get boost by gear, i also installed wheelspeed sensor up front and i now also have a functional traction control system.

The Autronics SM4 ecu lets me run a separate tune for dry and wet conditions, with different allowed slip % pr gear, for each mode.

I configured this because i street drive this thing with over 500hp crank, in the rain, on r888's. Its nice to be able to just turn TC on and not have the car swap ends at highway speeds.

I also configures launchcontrol.. because.. why not

Attended a trackday today at rudskogen (norway). there were a LOT of porsches, and other expensive cars, but thats not a problem when you drive a mx5 with a decent setup and a lot of power. fighting off those GT3's all day long

Such a beautiful track and really good driving. What tires? I heard them squealing.
