Thanks

Tires are toyo r888 225/45/15. they feel a bit slippery, and the car floats around a bit, its not the best tire, but its what i have easily available in suitable sizes that i can also run every day on the street. Also they are over a year old.

There is probably still a bit of time left with improved driving, should be able to get into the 1.35 range. my friends Gt2rs does a 1.32 at that track.

ok,. this might be the best idea ever, or the worst but fuckit.. here goes..
im going to try to swap in a 2016 BMW M4 7 speed DCT doubleclutch transmission in my mx5. becauce.. why not. i am looking for a little more top speed(lower rpm on long drives), and still keep tight ratiios..this will do the trick, and i like a challenge..

Sharing a garage with Shifti here on the forum is not helpful when it comes to saying no to crazy ideas. So this winters project is to get this up and running in my 92 mx5. then i can use full power of my engine, and have 80ms shifts with paddles.

Ill try to post pics as i go along,

What do you guys think?

It would be good if the adapter from the BMW 6 speed kit from K-Miata could be used to connect the bellhousing to the engine.

it should have the same bolt pattern, but making the gearbox mechanically attach to the engine is the easy part. there are a lot of custom parts needed.

How are you going to control the gearbox? It requires a lot of CAN messages from the stock BMW ECU, ABS, power controller, steering angle sensor, etc.

Custom gearbox controller ECU made here in europe. will show more later.
It will be a manually controlled system, and will retain a clutch pedal (drive by wire) but with normal DCT shift functionality.

Same bellhousing bolt pattern

We've been talking about doing this at some point too. Haven't looked into it much, but it would be incredible.

Edit: if you're serious about doing this, let me know. We may be able to help.

Got the adapter plate from kmiata today.
the getrag 7speed DCT double clutch gearbox has a couple of extra bolt holes but it bolts up ok.
Had the gearbox testfitted in a mx5 within 2hours

If it fits, it sits!
